i hate PC gaming for the one reason that makers come out with games that work with the xbox and ps3 but they make PCs for the games that come out

great engine but this video seems to show mostly that ps3 is superior to xbox360... still can't mess with PC though

I really wish they had the PC on here so we could see how good the CryEngine 3 really looks.

Xbox 360 provides much better lighting than the more mundane Playstation 3

    PC pwns both.

That will be a let down for PC version games because consoles only have 512MB memory unlike the PC it can handle alot more and the RAM prices are not that high.
imagine a game that uses 4 or 5 GB of ram it will be cool.

I think everyone is failing to see the major points of this fantastic game engine.

Firstly, this video was released at the gdc WAAAYYY back in March, and the CryEngine 3 is only now just being released, which means that there have been far greater refinements to the engine in that time to ensure that it runs optimally on all platforms.

Secondly, and MOST importantly, it amazes me that many people here on gamespot can't see past the blinders on either side of their heads and realise that this is a fantastic step in the right direction. For once, we have a game engine that will allow games to be built on multiple game platforms, so that porting will become an issue of the past. I don't know how many times, i've waited for up to a year for a game to be ported to PC, only to find that it is filled with a **** load of bugs. This will solve that, and i'm extremely glad for it, and on top of that, it should theoretically mean that game developers will be more willing to cast their games across all three platforms. This means more game variety, and that is a good thing for people like me who are UNBIASED in their opinions on platforms.

And so the system wars begin anew. The Crysis lovers for the PC cast the first stone, to annoy the PS3 clan, and then did the church of Xbox 360 cast their vengeance upon the PS3 in retaliation.

Pc obviously will have the best graphics than the consoles games but ps3 is alot better than 360. if you compare metal gear solid and uncharted to what 360 have to offer there is a big difference, the 360 could not produce that kind of graphical quality.

And i have both in my house also my own pc i use for games and to the 4k comment that is very stupid. If someone spent 4k on a pc don't even dare mention the word console in the same sentence. A 4k pc will s#*t on a ps3 and 360.

Okay, I've got crysis on PC, but that still looks sweet enough, I would choose to play it on a console on my couch looking like that.

They dumbed it down for consoles, they didn't make it scalable I'm just hoping for some badass version for the PC cuz so far what I see looks worse than the cryengine two

  • nikbotv4

    Posted Oct 15, 2009 6:57 pm GMT

@knifenkill They didn't dumb it down, they made it scalable.

@esgyear You sir are obviously insane. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about and have never bothered to look at prices of PC's, PC parts, or what you would realistically require to run Crysis.

frame rate is necessary looks good for console I noticed some lag in the forest scene with no characters or explosions...

  • knifenkill

    Posted Oct 15, 2009 5:46 pm GMT

They dumbed down the cryengine3 so it can work consoles unlike cryengine 2 whose graphics are superior

  • daGAWDly1

    Posted Oct 15, 2009 2:21 pm GMT

i built my pc for $700, and i can run crysis on max graphics just not crazy resolutions or frame rates which isn't that necessary

  • jollylhama

    Posted Oct 15, 2009 1:40 pm GMT

4k if you are retarded and order one to be built for you. You can easily build a comp that can run Crysis at max for under 2k, and for how much better it looks the price is worth it.

You will probably have to spend at least 4k to get the max from PC vs $300 from PS3 and 360.

this is exactly the same as CryEngine 2, especially the part where they showed from Crysis felling a tree with a gun, no difference at all, just new stages/worlds/places to play, that's what I think of it. Show us something totally new, not just comparing the old one with xbox and ps3 and it seemed that xbox had smoother gameplay & I don't own neither of them. I felt nothing new about graphics in this video, same as Crysis and -Warhead, what I've played multiple times through on my PC.

PC its the best in graphics depending on your video card duh! But in consoles PS3 its way better than 360 in graphics!!! READ PEOPLE READ, GOOGLE IT!!!

Cryengine 3 is intersting. I'm really curious whether it can simulate a storm on the islands. You know, all the trees moving, leafs and dust flying around. That would be impressive.

xbox 360 is slightly leading in graphics almost in any multiplatform game against ps3 due better gpu, but ps3 shows that has potential with cell cpu: mgs 4, killzone 2 and now, cryengine 3 looks a little bit better on shadows as i noticed, but if where will be no AA, it will fail against 360 very hard

  • Bassnoob

pc beats 360 and ps3 with graphics, but crysis 2 will be a great games for the consoles.

I hate you all, the Xbox 360 sucks, the PS3 sucks, Most consoles suck.

Pc is the only way to go if you want your game to have maximum potential

  • Sandovalblaine

    Posted Sep 4, 2009 4:26 pm GMT

First off...all fanboys are stupid lol. I'm talking about a few people a little farther below. And second, the Xbox and the PS3 are practially the same in terms of graphical power. The PS3 advantage is in processing power, but for anyone that builds computers, we know that processors have far less impact on graphical performance than the video card does. And thirdly it is certainly about gameplay, I still go back and play some of my OOOOLLLLDDDDD computer games and still thoroughly enjoy it. So...yeah haha

    I agree with pureskull123.
If the ps3 doesn't have AA; the game wouldn't run perfectly just showing low details in each fracture of the game's resort. AA has to be able to run on the ps3 having cryengine 3 with crysis 2.

  • Gamelova08

    Posted Aug 23, 2009 8:12 am GMT

And no false on the subject but I don't play games because they look pretty. I play them because their good. In fact, I got Halo 1 yesterday and I'm playing it non-stop! Regarding it's fallback on delays from today's graphics

  • Gamelova08

    Posted Aug 23, 2009 8:11 am GMT

And sure, the ps3 has 1080p graphical power. But PC has more than 20x the amount of that crap. 1280p x 1074p!!!

Ozzyjacob What are you saying? The controllers of those slimy Xbox360's are DISGUSTING!! Compare it with the ps3 controller and it's a copy only the left analog stick was switched with the D-pad. Plus, the controllers are up to 4 inches bigger, fatter, and less proficient then that of the ps3's and PlayStation supports DUAL SHOCK.

  • Gamelova08

    Posted Aug 23, 2009 8:03 am GMT

Skulltaker96 actually Gears graphics aren't obviously as proficient mostly because Microsoft never announced to raise the bar level of graphics to 1080p until E309. Plus Crisis can go on a high resolution i.e 1240 x 1020

    @markin91
Consoles don't have the processing power of PCs. Many, many games (like Prototype) run on consoles at lower resolutions which don't amount to HD (let alone true HD), and then resample the image to HD output, which is why you can play it on huge screens with half the quality PC gamers do.
Whenever showcasing games (and screenshots), unless you are seeing the guy actually playing the game, chances are it's the other way around: it's an ingame scene rendered at super-HD resolution (sometimes twice as much), then downsampled. Same goes for promo screenshots.

I've played DMC4, and TBH, no... that game looks based off the HL2 engine. These console ports look pretty bad in general. You shouldn't have blurry, flat textures, ANYWHERE, in Crysis. I can play maxed out @ 50 FPS on my PC, and I can tell you, these console ports are dumbed down TOO much; I just hope it doesn't affect the PC version.

Issues I see with the console demos:
    -Blurry, flat textures
    -Not enough explosion detail
    -Low framerate
    -Little AA and AF
    -Crap physics
-Shadows are ew... falling tree says it all

And just overall a simplified level of detail... which all in all would completely ruin the point of the experience for me... Luckily, I sold my 360 2 years ago, so I don't have much to worry about.

I really see a lot of similarity between the texturing of Urban Darklit areas in Cryisis 2 and Capcom's Devil May Cry 4.

Is it just me or are they actually similar??

(Please only the guys who have Actually played Devil May Cry 4 reply)

ps3 and x360 wont handle crysis2... bullsh.t!!! as you saw, it would, and later crytek will make it run and look even better! maybe if u buy a thousands dollars pc, it might look better. but for an avarage player, who just wants a good gameplay and nice graphics the ps3 and x360 is the best. in case, the console owners dont have to buy grapich cards, processors, rams, and etc. for a lot of money. we just buy the game and enjoy it. and not even on a small lcd, but on a huge hdtv. so i dont really mind if u play on pc enjoy it and spend a lot of money for a single game!!!

um crysis is about nomad one one side of the island and the pshyco ont he other said like he said at the beginning of warhead and crysis too prob going to be pshyco and nomad teamming up

The ps3 has better anisotropic filtering than the xbox 360 from what i noticed.
But if the ps3 doesnt support AA in CRYSIS 2 its gonna fail terrible. and the 360 will be superior then, OR NOT.

Hopefully today we can get computers for 700 dollars that are better tha both consoles together.

  • chboy08

    Posted Jul 23, 2009 7:13 pm GMT

@boredboreddurr- Come on man, you can't say that the xbox 360 or a PS3 is more expensive than buying a gaming PC. What's with this war with gamers anyways? Some people don't want, or don't have the money to spend on a gaming PC. So they'll sacrifice some minor graphic downgrade and get an xbox. Which for the price, $179.99, displays a beautiful picture and opens the door to the xbox live community. Besides, Crytek already said that the pc version will look far better graphically than the console version, so they're not "dumbing down" the graphics. Plus Crytek is gonna make a hell of a lot more money this way.

why would they bother trying to make crysis for xbox or ps3 they are both the same ps3 just makes every thing more glossy. both dont run with like any AA and they both dont play game full. xbox only plays cod 4 at medium and no AA and ps3 is like the same. so y are they downing the grafix and engin so they can put a game on the xbox or ps3 i think the whole thing is retarded.
