    wait wait help me out here do you NEED the game to play this or do i just have to download this from joinfear.com and get the code? cuz i do not have the game and the site is asking me for a CD key and well... you get the idea

    Is there some kind of patch needed to play online? I have the full version of FEAR, and nobody is ever online. Any advice?

    five hours after download initialization, still waiting for completion. twenty five minutes left. edit: by the way, im DLing from joinfear.com... I only use GS if there isn't a homepage for a game. Most of the time I have problems with gamespot.

    @ ifdarkone - I have no idea, I downloaded the installer a few days ago (and damn did that take long), but today I couldn't get on joinfear.com ... and it seems no one knows the answer.

    LET ME SETTLE THIS RIGHT HERE:

    -this game file's BROKEN...DON'T DOWNLOAD IT
    -download it from www.joinfear.com
    -you will also get a FREE validation key for signing-up at Joinfear.com which is also FREE
    -choose the SIERRA site mirror for download...THAT WORKS
    -if you dont have EQUAL to or MORE THEN 512 Kbps net...don't bother yourself with this game
    -works on ALL OS that can have direct X 9..which means both XP and VISTA (don't know about win98 but i guess we are past that age now)
    -the game is WORTH IT btw....it's FREE....it's FUN....it's almost better than CSS
    -so go ahead...DOWNLOAD THIS GAME IF YOU CAN

    seriously,my internet connection is highly unstable,took me the whole night listening to my computer fan to download the file,now it's broken -_- WASTE OF TIME!!!

    Other folks here have already said this, but I want to add confirmation that they are correct: The Gamespot download of this game is BROKEN. Really weird, because even though the one from Sierra is the exact same size in bytes, a diff utility identifies the files as different.

    Like other folks, I got the Catastrophic Failure during install with the Gamespot binary; the version I downloaded from Sierra worked fine.
