The original was my favorite game back in -01. I just realised I'm posting in the xbox section but I can't help thinking it would be better if it was a PC exclusive. I'm still gonna have to buy it for xbox though since my computer isn't up to date anymore .

Ps. please keep the music down in interviews! I had a real hard time hearing what he was saying

So much better than Cod 4. All Cod 4 is "Go through the enemy infested base and kill them yeah. This will have different objectives than gunning 24/7

There are so many cool aspects to the AI in OF that have never been in other FPS tactical or not. That I cant imagine what new stuff they've come up with. Just being able to control a mix of soldiers along side yourself in an open world while other live players can do the same with their AIs is totally unique. What other game can you tell and AI to drive while you control Turrets, and another platoon is riding in another vehicle all AI controlled along side you or within a convoy. All while fighint AI controlled enemies that are also running around in a seamless open world driving vehicles, using gun emplacements, reacting to the situation. Even a day/night cycle with real lighting effects from flashlights, headlights, flares, etc. Its like GTA IV x 100

Interesting stuff, looks like codemasters is getting better having games made, while gamespot is getting worse at having videos made ffs:

    (1) Angle the camera so we can see the game while he talks
    (2) don't overlay such loud music
    (3) don't cut to graphic stills while the video is about AI
    or
    (4) just hire someone who knows what they're doing

That being said, this game does look good, even if it isn't the real OFP2. ArmA was released a while back now though.

Agreed, best single player military fps i've ever played. Good to hear they are putting a lot of effort into the AI which was pretty damn convincing in the first game!! Unfortunately the online side of things wasn't as good which was then blown away by the BF series.

I'm totally salivating at the moment... The first game was one of the most amazing games I have ever played and it looks like they are making some pretty awesome changes

LiTos456b I totally agree with you on what you said. The U.S. Military is not the only Good well put together army in the world. Russia, China, Great Britain, and The U.N. are all just as good if not better than the U.S. Take this from an American and a patriot, America’s Military is not the Best army, in fact no army is the best, it just come down to who has the most will to fight and survive.

I can't say I totally disagree with mikees... I come from Ukraine which is part of the Soviet Union and their army is the largest army in the whole world, and Soviet Union army was the army that lost 28 million men in world war 2 while still winning the war. I of course respect the United States Army and I'm not saying they're less professional or tactical than the Soviet Force but I do not agree that they're more professional than ANYONE else, or more tactical. All armies have their advantages and I think all armies are equal especially the world's 2 biggest forces - Soviet Union and USA Army. I respected COD4 for including Russians in it, and as I am planning on getting into gaming industry soon I hope to be working on an FPS that will feature the Soviet Union Army as the main campaign army you play for, just to add something unique to an FPS game, but also to show gamers that US Army isn't the only good army that exists in the world.
As for the video, it's nice how they made the AI though I wish more info was released on the game.

This game is turning out to be amazing! I love the realism. I love how your teamates aren't 'robots', and won't go out into the open to take away the fire from you. I would do that in the G.R.A.W series, but I think it's cool you can't do that here. :p

mikees1 just truely offended me. He must not know anything about the Armed Forces of the United States of America. They are by far the most professional and overall highly trained military force currently on the face of the planet!!! Not only are they the most advanced technologically, They have invented and put into action some the best tatical plans in modern military history. Anyways about the actual video. Im very impressed by how much work they are putting into the AI it sounds revolutionary.

@mikees1 What the hell? The American army is just as professional as any other army, and I say that as a proud Canadian. I've grown up knowing soldiers from India, Pakistan, America, Portugal... All over the place. These guys were just as professional as anyone else. Don't talk about what you don't understand. The reason Americans are featured in so many FPS's is because they have the largest military, and they're active with it, which makes them great material for fiction, along with the tales of American bravery and heroism in battle that have been around since the country was founded.

I'm looking forward to getting my tactics on the go. Hhopefully we're gona see a lot more teamwork online than in other games where players are hell bent on high scores, running in and getting more kills than everyone else. In this, im thinking those are the players who will die first.

A truly military AI, friendly or otherwise, is definitely a first I think. We've seen some approximations in other games, but it sounds like this one might just be the real deal. Here's hoping!

Nice to see a developer focus on friendly AI for a change. Usually in these types of games the enemy AI is excellent while the friendlies will run around like headless chickens.

"ArmA: Combat Operations" was a perfect example of this. The enemy soldiers had pinpoint accuracy, would use fire and manoeuvre tactics to suppress and flank you, while your own soldiers would run around in circles shooting at shrubs or lose sight of you and get lost if you moved more than 20 feet away from them.

Made for some good laughs, but got a bit frustrating when you tried to set up some decent tactics!

im sick to death of playing games with the american army in! In terms of numbers they are a superior force but in terms of tactics an proffesionalism they are not. Full spectrum warrior 2 at least gave us the British (a somewhat 70's version though!)and im just plain bored of American themed games

Some people totally don't understand this game! This was the first game I played that put you in almost real life situations. This was and is really the first BF FPS. ArmA is the newer version of OFP.

The AI makes the obvious step to unscripted and random actions.
But the AI teammates even reacting to your orders, such as ignoring you, would make it even more interesting.
