Update: DLC
Posted: May 15, 2009 7:38 pm GMT
On 5/5/2009, Fallout 3's third $10 add-on, Broken Steel, was released in a broken state; a fixed version was released several days later. In this pack, you join the Brotherhood of Steel to rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave. It also allows you to return to the game after completing the main quest, and raises the level cap to 30.

Ermac1986: the only reason you could get your level cap to 30 without the Broken Steel DLC would be that you're playing the PC version, and hack it. I mean, dude, I still play Fallout 3, after a year. I have a perfect character as far as S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats and skills go. You DO have reason to keep playing the game, whether it's exploring what you left out from the Capital Wasteland and the broken city of D.C. to gong around killing Raiders for the pure adrenaline. You're pretty much complaining about nothing. By the way, it's traditional for Bethesda to make a fewDLCs for their games.

@ermac1986 you realize the level cap RAISES after you purchase broken steel right?

Lots of fun but I don't get how it's worth all that money they want. The level cap is 30, yet they keep releasing all these expansions. Don't you think that people are going to just buy the expansion that allows the level increase and then be done? After you're 30 there's really no point in playing it, let alone the expansions anymore. This just makes no sense to me. Maybe if it were like 60 or something, it would be worth it. Certainly hope New Vegas fixes this nonsense.

I dont get how people can like these games........they are so freakin boring.............9 times out of ten you end up being someones errand boy.......and the game just drags on and on and on

K VanOrd really knows how to talk someone into getting a game!
I really liked oblivion, but always wished it allowed more consequences for your actions. I like the fact that every decision you make in this game actually affects how the story plays out. Looks like a really fun and don't know why I've waited this long to give it a try.

Why Bethseda, must you make the PS3's version of Fallout 3 so inferior. :[ Anyway, I have the game for 5 months already with all the add-ons. Very immense world and great gameplay!

Kevin V O is the greatest reviewer in Gamespot definitely. He seems to also review all the games I enjoy. What a legend.
The PS3 version is no longer inferior if it was originaly. It's fixed pretty much most things that made it worse. It truly is an insanely epic game.

Man I just gotta say, I use to hate on gamespot after Jeff n everybody left and I still think that they are still a little lacking compared to where they use to be where staff is concerned, BUT one thing remains strong, Kevin V O can still deliver a video game review with the best of 'em. I honestly think that he is one of the most honest and compelling game journalist out there and I commend him for his great work and am looking forward to another year of reading and watching about games with him. Thanks bro!!

p.s. no man crush, a dude just deserves his props where props are due

It's a great game, but overrated and doesn't even begin to compare to previous Fallout games, especially the piece of crap story. And I know, I'm going to get flamed to Hell and back for saying that.

The game is an RPG. I dont even have to explain why. Cant believe how much times people think'' OOOh, GUN, FIRT PERSON, OH NOES, THIS IS LIKE COD!!!!''

its a first person view game and it has guns, therefore its a FPS lmao, u should really check the meaning of FPS

  • huerito323

    lol @Chester_Diamond

No it's not a FPS. It doesn't play like any FPS. That is why they have VATS.

Why is Fallout 3 rated 8.5 on PS3 and 9.0 on XBOX360 and PC? what`s the difference there?

  • bigtruckseries

    Posted Nov 8, 2009 9:15 am GMT

    huerito323

That's not true. Fallout 3 is both an FPS and a Third Person Shooter. That is specifically how its camera options are designed.

  • PhiliEagles

    Posted Nov 5, 2009 3:10 pm GMT

I rented this game a couple months ago and after playing it for a few days I thought it wasn't for me. But recently i've been getting the urge to play it again, I might get the the GOTY edition.

  • huerito323

    Posted Nov 4, 2009 2:36 pm GMT

    @bigtruckseries

Fallout 3 is not a FPS. If you were to recommend Fallout 3 to someone by telling them it's a FPS, they're going to HATE this game because it doesn't play like a FPS. It might have the first person view, but that's about it. FO3 is one of the best RPG's I've ever played.

    Posted Nov 3, 2009 5:42 pm GMT

Why should you buy this game?

    1. This game has probably the best atmosphere ever created in any game.
    2. HUGE map, would take probably 100 hours or more to explore it all.
3.One of the best leveling systems I have seen in any game.
4.You will want to go into every single building because you never know what might be in the next one.
    5. Hundreds of items to find and pick up, (seriously, there are soo many).
    6. A VERY large variation in creatures, (every environment in the game has its own creatures).
7.Karma system is great and allows you to be as evil or good as you want.
8.You can totally customize your character in appearance, as well as the type of character you want him to be, (thief, stealthy guy, persuade people with speech, ect...then again you will really be a little of each.)
    9. There are many different dialogue options while talking, and like in other games, conversations with other characters are hugely interesting and enjoyable, rather than some games you just want them to end.
10.Also, like creatures, huge variety in weapons, from kitchen knifes from guns that carry mini nukes.

There are also quite a few other things i didn't mention. Really, why some people don't like this game is beyond me, but hey this is just my opinion, which is, this game is the most amazing game I have ever played.

  • Rheinmetal

    Posted Nov 3, 2009 12:46 am GMT

I'm only at the beginning of the game, and I'm impressed! I didn't understand why it got a 8.5 form GameSpot. It seems strict for such a game.

  • Humorguy_basic

It's funny, BigTruckSeries and others always talk about Fallout 3 being like an FPS. Some even call it an 'RPG-Shooter', the same as they do Borderlands! This is proof of a dumbed down market! Has anyone called Oblivion an 'RPG-Sworder'?! Did anyone call Fallout 1 and 2 'RPG-Shooter's'? No!

Quite simply, Fallout 3 is an RPG, plain and simple, it just happens to come with laser guns rather than bows and arrows. The fact you shoot guns and don;t use a sword does NOT make it an 'RPG-Shooter'. It just makes it a Sci-Fi RPG!!!!!

Is it any wonder we are getting games that 10 years ago would have been called an Arcade-Adventure now being called RPG's!
