The thing to do if you bought FSX recently is to download the patch, and try to install it. If it says "you are already running this version" or something like that, then you're in the clear and can delete the download.

I just purchased FS X 3 days ago (Oct 15). Do I need to download the patch, or is it already integrated in my version?

It's a huge improvement over the unpatched game. Better framerates, better texturing, AI craft don't look ugly, and it will support my new computer's Core 2 Duo!

SP1 improves so many things! Have you notice, when the plane takesoff, the wheels keep spinning and slows down. They also improved the arming speed of the reverse-thrust using the F2 key. Btw, duo-core is much faster than P4, not because more cores, but it's better on multi-threading.

Finally!! The sim is now playable on my P4 3.2 with 2 GB Ram, Vista Premiere with Nvidia 8800 GTX. It was frustrating to have all that hardware firepower and run the sim like a slideshow. Now, could we please get a DX 10 compatable sim as promised on the package???
