What do you need to do,either on naval or land battle,to have your camera change perspective and target
It was available on previous total wars, when you select one of your units and they are firing on the enemy the cam moves on the enemies and you can see them being pummeled just like here in this video

@oysteinfolde:how could you think 1 second that anyone in this world would care about your purchase? I don't understand.

On that video, it does not make me want to play it and it does not really make me rate this franchise much higher.. I hope I'll be positively surprised though.

The guys definitely had the classic look of an older brother letting a younger brother win!

    The water and the crew's reactions to battle came across as realistic looking. I am also also glad from the preview that they are minimizing some of the micromanaging in the governing mode. Empire looks like another great sequel to a great franchise. This might be one of the very rare games I buy & even reserve (presuming I can still get Rome:Total War in the price at Best Buy or Game Stop ) before seeing the reviews! :cool;

Did anyone notice every time they add a trailer they show exactly the same footage? And there's probably missing videos from some kind of Empire: Total War video series 'cause there's no Superior Tactics 1 & 2 here.

And they also have only 1 feature video (Road to Independance).

Well, awesome game all in all. Can hardly wait for this week and a half to end so I can reconquer the world in th 18th century!

I'd like to see more videos on the land part.
It's beautiful, judging from the demo.

I'm going to be glued to my system for the next few months. RTS utopia has hit PC, Currently playing DoW 2, getting this next week, and WiC - Soviet is coming out a bit after that.

With Star Craft 2 coming later in the year, 2009 seems to be the year of RTS!

Yeah the sea battles are slow, but like evildead said, what do you expect, the boats have sails. I still found it to be pretty fun. Even if it sucks really bad though, did the lack of naval battles stop anyone from buying the previous games? I personally just look at the naval portion as a bonus to what already promises to be a solid new addition to the total war franchise. PS: We Americans now enter the fray!

    @ Jhraxlin

The game is turn based strategy with real time battles.

  • BenBenBen93

    Posted Feb 27, 2009 11:45 am GMT

remember The Total war updates people before you judge on the demo. there patches are epic and fix and balance everything you mention to them. and naval battles aren't to important you can just skip them. i'm looking forward to diplomacy and twaeked land battle more

  • evildead7

    Posted Feb 27, 2009 11:08 am GMT

From playing the demo I'd have to totally disagree w/ jokerdk. Naval combat is both fun and brings a fresh new aspect to the Total War series. Is it slow? Yeah, it is, but you need to remember this is the 18th century, it's the Age of Sails. All the demo did was leave me wanting to dive into the campaign mode of the game bad.

  • ronnet

    Posted Feb 27, 2009 11:00 am GMT

I'll wait for the reviews since Im not so sure about the sea battles. But Total war has always been excellent, so good really that they are miles ahead of anything else the genre has to offer. It feels as if I should avoid it justto enjoy other RTS. I definatly enjoy the setting of Empire:total war (more then the previous installments) so if the rest of the game is as good as the other ones then I'll just skip the sea battles.

Have tried the demo and after that, I don't think I going to buy this game. Sea battles suck big time. They are boring and slow. I am a huge fan of Total War series, but since the demo is rather bad, I will stick with Medieval II instead. Very disappointed.

The classic naval battle tactics we see in each game. Different types of cannon balls, boarding etc. However, there is something different in that game...it's Total War!

First time I upgraded my rig was just after Rome Total War was released. Second, about one year after Medieval Total War 2, when a lot of mods was available. It looks like third upgrade is incoming with Empire Total War.
