Warcraft and Starcraft are direct rip offs of the Warhammer and Warhammer 40k Intellectual Properties. Hands down, no contest. You may say ...ehh...well the games are good that Blizzard makes. It's irrelevant, because they are no where near as good to justify the plagiarism present in the titles. Thank you. 'Nuff said. Oh and if you think this is Nerd Raging then you need to rethink your priorities. It's simply stating the facts.

Lets get something strait here...Warhammer has been around for more than 15 years. It predates video games. Warhammer fantasy was basically a rule book that gave you ideas on how to use those little lead (back then they were lead anyhow) mini's that people painted and use them to fight battles. It picked up in popularity, due to GW taking over and some brilliant marketing. WH40K was also introduced, and originally involved only space craft. Anyroad, originally Blizzard wanted to buy Warhammers license from Games Workshop. The deal fell through, so Blizzard basically changed a few letters and stole all of GW ideas. You can find almost exact replicas of most of Blizz models, characters, etc, in Warhammer lore. Case in point; World of Warcraft. Originally a book released by GW called "World of Warhammer." Blizzard does make great games, Diablo was/is an amazing series, and Diablo 3 im chomping at the bit to get. But as for originality, the lore of Blizz is stolen, almost word for word.

Why is this series focusing on only the Blood Angels? With the tyranids, the focus should be on the Ultramarines or some other old chapters.

That aside, this game looks insane. can't wait to preorder.

While I am a fan of Relic's WH games, the amount of nerd raging against SC here is astounding.

Theres a big enough difference to grant each the respect they clearly deserve.

@Pixiecrap:"tyranids kinda look like a cross of the zerg, and aliens to me"
how do you even compare such punny zerg to the almighty tyranids??

i gotta say, sync kill is the greatest thing ever happened to a RTS. what's more?? it's in WARHAMMER!!
and looks like they've improved the sync kills animation..

if i ever should choose between this or SC2, i'll pick DoW2 anyday

  • marshal_lai

    Posted Oct 24, 2008 6:00 pm GMT

Nids' make Zerg look like puny ants... =P

Elrax: The reason warhammer looks a lot like starcraft is because Games Workshop sold whoever made Starcraft the game rights. The Marines came straight from warhammer marines. The actual games came from the tabletop version (warhammer 40,000.

I,ve played as nids in the mod and it is,nt fun for me. But this will be better

  • Elrax

    Posted Sep 22, 2008 9:40 am GMT

True the Warhammer story is older than Starcraft, but it still does remind me of the Zerg and Aliens, lol. While the empire remind me of the Terran Marines, just bulkier and grimmer than the Marines. (Jet Packs)

  • Bakkoda24

    Posted Sep 11, 2008 5:16 pm GMT

Well, Blizzard still has to stick with a launch date for SCII before this game can be massacred. But Red Alert III will be tough competition. I just hope that DoW II will both give you a large campaign range(like that in Soulstorm) while also giving the players a compelling story(like the original DoW). I can't say that I'm please to hear the exclusion of certain classes, but I can only hope that with less material they'll focus on dynamics and gameplay. And as for overpowering the Tyranids, I hope that's just for show. And a clever player could take them down anyway.

And having used "hope" numerous times, I'll quote the Space Marines, "hope is the first step on the road to disappointment".

I just hope they don't overpower the 'Nids too much. Finger's crossed that you can customise the Land Raider loadouts. Like to see the 'Nids stand against a Crusader.
