Start with older persona's or just right into 4?

Im new to the persona series.. SHould i start with the first one on PSP or
just get Persona 4 for vita without having played any previous ones?

I did, and I am loving every second. slow start but keep at it, it is an amazing game.

I've never played a Persona game before this one. I gotta say, this is probably one of the best games I have ever played. I just loved every second of it. It just sucks you right in.
