Yes you can get a PS2 control adapter for the PS3, not sure how well they work and if they work well with 3rd party controllers though

Yes you can I have at least 4 ps2-ps3 adapters.

yes you can. What you need to do is buy the adapter which is from the ps2 plug to the usb one
