Pokemon White is another great handheld pokemon game which is set in a new region called Unova, with over 150 new pokemon to battle and collect. Nothing has really changed in the handheld pokemon games over the years (other than a few graphical quirks), which isn't a bad thing because the whole pokemon experience is both exciting and very addictive.
Your journey starts as always in your home town, being summoned by a pokemon proffessor who presents you and your rivals with your very first pokemon. The professor requests that you help her with her research by traveling the world and archiveing all the pokemon you discover along the way with the pokedex. The goal of the game is to defeat all 8 gym trainers in various towns, which will qualify you for the pokemon league and challenging the elite four trainers to ultimately become the champion. Along the way an extremist group named Team Plasma will interfere with their evil plans to "liberate" pokemon by stealing them from trainers.
The formula is simple, each pokemon you catch can learn up to four moves which have a specific type that can be either strong or weak against other types of pokemon. It is your job choose the most effective moves in turn based battles, depleting the opponents pokemon's health before your own. By defeating other trainers your pokemon level up becoming stronger, learn new moves and even evolve into a more powerfull pokemon.
There are pretty much no real frustrations in this game because if you get beaten you simply wake up at a pokemon centre revived with no save data loss and the simple mechanics of the game mean your never let down by any clumsy controls.
Pokemon White Version is a fun and and addictive game with a vast world with plenty to do, even after the main story you will be engaged for hours. 9 / 10

Sabrina uses Psychic types, and strong ones at that. There were some rough spots when dealing with Mr.Mime and Alakazam, but I got through the mess.Posted Aug 4, 2011
