Xerneas? A dragon?
lol
Well for some reason, Game Freak believes that the main box cover "trio" legendaries have to share a common typing, which is dragon. The dragon type is considered very powerful, and can implied to every type easily. Hopefully Xerneas won't be part dragon type...along with Fennekin not being fire/fight....
Suicune?
Groudon/Kyogre/Rayquaza?
I said AFTER Rayquaza, Game Freak believes that the main box cover legendaries have to be part dragon type (creation trio, tao trio).
I believed that Emboar wouldn't be fire/fighting, but after that realization I truly believe that Game Freak is capable of performing the same pattern. Over and over again. - Feb 11, 2013 1:38 pm GMTthisguy12 posted...

6 box cover dragon type pokemon in a row aren't a pattern? Whatever you say. - Feb 11, 2013 1:42 pm GMTSorry, I meant eight box cover dragon legendaries in a row if you're counting Rayquaza and the double Reshiram/Zekrom duo due to BW2.

It's not 6 in a row, it's 2 in a row. Yes, there are 6 boxes, but your argument is that the trios are dragons, and there are only 2 instances of that.

Okay, but if I changed the topic and viewed the 8 individual box covers then there is clearly a pattern. Also, you're making it as if there are only 2 trios that are dragons, but if the trios consists of 6 main cover dragon legendaries in all that the storyline focuses on, then it's a big deal. Sorry if you misinterpreted the topic. - Feb 11, 2013 1:48 pm GMTthisguy12 posted...

That pattern has clearly been broken though. Xerneas is clearly not dragon type.

I'm personally fed up with the implication that the main legendaries of a game have to be part dragon type. Kyogre and Groudon weren't part dragon type and everything was fine.
Although after Rayquaza, Game Freak decided that if the main legendaries aren't dragon type, then they aren't powerful.
Hopefully Yveltal is dark/flying and Xerneas is steel/psychic. Although if they are part dragon type, would you be disappointed?
Yes, every time a pokemon that doesn't look like a dragon is made dragon type, millions Charizards cry out in terror and are suddenly silenced.

I appreciate your opinion. The topic's main focus is whether or not you would be upset if Xerneas and Yveltal were part dragon type hypothetically, and I believe you would be upset as would I.

Skarmory would slap the hell outta you - Feb 11, 2013 1:56 pm GMTThey keep making them dragon type because Dragon is an OP typeing. I am sick of it personally, although overall game balance is higher up on my list of priorities.

- Feb 11, 2013 2:03 pm GMTIn pokemon the dragon type is the epitome of power. They have the highest average overall BST and highest fully evolved overall BST by far (610, which is way higher than anything else).
Plus it is an extremely rare type. Anyways two out of 5 gens is not a lot. I have no idea why you are so upset about dragon types to begin with.

I don't understand why duos, trios, and quadruplets have to share a common typing. The legendary beasts and weather trio didn't share a common typing, and everything was fine. Hopefully the pattern is broken...I can't imagine what common typing Yveltal and Xerneas can share other than dragon... - Feb 11, 2013 2:06 pm GMTEnferolunos posted...

Altaria (Goose), Flygon (Dragonfly/Antlion), Haxorus (Dinosaur), Garchomp (Hammerhead Shark), Giratina (???), Kingdra (Sea Dragon)
Dialga, Palkia, Latias, Latios, Reshiram, and Zekrom have some dragon characteristics, but are far from being completely based on dragons. In fact, Zekrom looks more like Bionis than any dragon I've ever seen.

Dragon is a pretty vague term. I'll concede that Altaria and Reshiram are a bit off, but the others are similar enough to dragons, which is vague by itself, to be fine in my book.
