LOL to all those who complain about the jarring change in this game. Gaming is the creative cohesion of all elements in the medium. It's not about eye candy, or blown-out sound effects. It's all about the evocative resonance it brings to your table. An unparalleled concept, filled with subtleties which avoids telling things in-your-face make the Portal series worthy of acclaim. Saying that portal getting a 9.0 an understatement is an understatement.

After checking the ratings for portal 2 and seeing it scored high from critics and players alike I purchased it, played it for about two hours unimpressed,and haven't played it since, I decided to rate games I have bought because I rate this game as a 6 or 7 max. play the demo before buying any game.
Don't forget that a lot of these ratings were when the games first came out and they all had some marketing hype associated with the ratings and popularity.
I expect better and more entertaining. I do rate games lower than most because I expect to be entertained.
@malandrazi Nice to know, but personally I found Portal 2 to be a terrific and unique game.
I think it deserves all the praise it gets.
thinking about buying this, it looks amazingly set out and i like the whole idea of the game mechanics, is it worth getting?
portal 2 is such a suck a$$ game... i don't know how people like such games, watching its gameplay. images it gave me an idea that its really a terrible game
1 Like if valve could make a portal game with actual gun play i think it would be genera defining. Imagine all the puzzle solving physics gameplay mixed with half life 2/ counterstrike fps action it could potentially be a game worthy of a perfect ten score. I just hope half life 3 adds the portal gun to gordan freemans always expanding arsenal.

hell ya prototype 2 is better you cant even compare the 2 together i dislike games like this coz they not fun i mostly like shooting and games like ghost recon future solder and that not games like this
@shane9494 What the hell... Prototype 2 is the biggest letdown of the year while ghost recon is good,but "future soldier?" Come on, man. I would understand a love for Gears of War 3 or even as low class as Call of Duty, but really? Portal 2 is the single best game of the year hands down (might be outclassed by Batman: Arkham City, though). Just because your pathetic seedling of a brain hasn't hatched the POINT of the game, that doesn't mean its a bad game. Now mostly I would just shrug and mutter "fanboy" beneath my breath, but PROTOTYPE? FUTURE SOLDIER? What kind of rock have you been living under? Go screw yourself over.
@elmerfud43 -You won't have to 'buy' it, Gabe gives it away FREE for about 2 weeks every summber on Steam. Don't waste your money.
1 Like Extremely overrated game, a very ns game, but def not the best. The graphics seem aged, the gameplay simplistic and the physics, well not the best the gaming industry has ever seen. If it wasnt for valve, who is the second most influenced gaming in company in GS and US in general, then it could have gone unnoticed, let alone become the game of the year...
1 Like @InquisitorCrox Clearly it's an opinion, but a game with 95 in metacritic, cannot be called "simplistic", much less overrated. Besides, the physics are just fine, what you are clearly missing are the narrative elements of the story, writing, music, a game does not need good graphics to be good. But above all, it is definitely not simplistic gameplay. So, it really deserves this score
1 Like @Chema96 lol you clearly don't understand what gaming is all about gaming is all about graphics game play and story the game does not have that good graphics for a 2011 game and the game play sucks who would want to go around the place making portals i rather be playing prototype 2 or something that is more realistic in graphics and in game play and omg how the hell can they rate the game 9 i would give it a rating of 6 i would get board of this game in about 5 mins of playing lol
lol really?, how in the world has Prototype more realistic gameplay? Portal 2's graphics are not the best, but they are fine. Who would like to play Portal? Uhh just like every reviewer and 4 million people, the game was loved by concensus, that's not seen very often. And finally, your superficial mind can only see through the portal puzzles (which are awesome), but this game will immerse you, make you laugh with solid humor, frighten you, and emotionally drive you until the end. Graphics don't define a game's quality, and the gameplay makes you think for a while.
I honestly don't know if I'll ever encounter another game this truly amazing :) I can't even describe my love for this game

I just came here to tell that Portal 2 was the best game I played in 2011.Skyrim was good.But my best is PORTAL 2.
i got free from steam what I thought was a demo of portal but for some reason I got the full game.....STEAM IS AWESOME!
