Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands takes place between Sands of Time and Warrior Within, during the years after the Prince's adventure in Azad. In the early sections of the game it may seem like it offers nothing new to the series but stick with it. Even though the game's story follows almost the same premise as Sands of Time (sand monsters being unleashed on a royal palace from an ancient artifact) there is still a lot of unique fun to be had here. Once you start getting the elemental powers the game really picks up, and you'll have an absolute blast. I especially enjoyed the water freezing ability, although sometimes the game puts running water in unusual places just to make use of this mechanic. But nobody plays Prince of Persia as if it's realistic anyway.
My only real complaint other than the short length of the story mode is that there is not much strategy involved in the combat. The stupid enemies you fight are no match for the acrobatic prowess of the Prince, and their attacks are nothing we haven't seen before in games. Still, it's great to see the old Prince back instead of the idiot from the 2008 PoP, and it's really nice that his acrobatics are still as awesome as ever. 8.5/10
