Ive finished the game, its open ended and leaves some (if not alot) of questions unanswered, however these are answerd through the web which you must collect to fulfill the story. There are about 250 web pieces, and currently i only have about 130 of them so i have yet to finish the web. The game IS sandbox and you can choose when and how to do a mission. There are a million different ways to approach it; be stealthy (stealth consume), go in and use brute force to finish the mission, or run in finish a bit, run out, repeat. However the downside to the many features is that the graphics where kind of damaged so that the game could be handled by the systems.

The game is advertised as a sandbox-style game, I do believe. Though whether or not there's limitations as to what you can do (i.e. being confined into a specific area), I'm not sure. I'm kind of hoping for another Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction myself. -
You can do anything you want, or you can find a mission and start it. While progressing through the storyline, the city will change and become more and more infected.

Since I am one of the testers for this game; it is a sandbox. The game will be shipped on June 9, 2009, but will be released on the 10th.

If you've played Far Cry 2 or Fallout 3, you'll recognize the gameplay mechanic. You can follow the storyline or you can wander around at your leisure and work on perfecting your character (by unlocking everything you can), or a combination of both. Some abilities can only be unlocked by progressing through the storyline however, so for example after you finish the intro, you can't run out and kill a few people to get 'helicopter pilot' abilities just like that... you have to earn it through the storyline.

It's very similar to a series called "destroy all humans". You run around town doing whatever you feel like and as you absorb or "consume" more stuff you are able to unlock more powers. You start the game in a tutorial but once you finish that you can go anywhere in the city. the more "Days" pass (caused by beating a certain number of missions) the more the infection spreads and the more the military and Blackwatch dig in. Basically if you do all the storyline missions everything in the game will be available to you and it's just a matter of getting the evelution points u need or finding the web of intrigue targets.
