GDC 06: Ratchet & Clank PS3-bound

Sony and Insomniac are bringing the gun-crazy duo to the PlayStation 3.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--Immediately after showing off a new internal demo of Resistance: Fall of Man, the game formerly known as I-8, Ted Price of Insomniac used the rest of his stage time at Sony's 2006 Game Developers Conference keynote address to give a sneak peek of the next chapter in the long-running Ratchet & Clank series, currently in development for the PlayStation 3.

Price's demo was brief, showing the furry-eared alien and his robot friend walking through a tunnel and looking out over a huge city-planet reminiscent of the Star Wars planet, Coruscant. As the camera flies down over the planet, rows and rows of robots are shown walking through the streets as a blimp with the Ratchet & Clank logo passes overhead.

    Ratchet and Clank is one of the best games ever..and i played a lot of games

    this is gonna be sweet. i agree going commando was da best, man i just love the blitz cannon. i like the mods from deadlocked, and i love the dual viper/raptors

    I assure everyone this won't come out on PS2 because insomniac is owned by sony and they need all the exclusives they can find so they'll actualy sell PS3s (especially in aus and Eu)

    Ratchet & Clank Is my favorite series, I just hope that the PS3 will have gone down in price and the power of the PS3 will be taken advantage of by the time the game comes out.

    The TRUE 5th installment of RC is blasting,annihilating,decimating,eradicating,etc., this way! Now a great get-a-ps3-quick-scheme!

    Awwesome a new ratchet and clank game!!!!! Problem is im not going to get a ps3 since its so expensive. though its going to be a whole lot better than deadlocked. they should make it on the ps2 as well.

    I love the ratchet series and can't wait to get the next one! I am gonna get a ps3 in a few months(when they restock) and i hope ratchet is out by then

    This is All Godd, I'm not getting a Ps3 until price drops in Oz, so it will be out by the time I get one!!

    But I still think that Insomniac should take the same path as Naughty Dog [they have trademarked the name Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier for Ps2 and Ps3 so it will be on both consoles] and that would make it a lot easier because I am only getting a Ps3 for this game and Warhawk.

    The graphics on this game are stunning... i will probably buy a PSP just to play this game, Daxter, and the portable Jak game that is coming out.

    YES YES YES!! oh man this is awesome i can't wait for this game to come out I'm a huge fan of the Ratchet and Clank series.. I agree with bonecollector21 they should go back to the roots of the franchise like going commando and add the lock-strafe camera introduced in up your arsenal as for deadlocked the mods should be the only thing added from that game and of cours RYNOIV and plz put clank back on ratchets back i mean its called ratchet AND CLANK

    oh man this is sweet. All the games had nice graphics (for being on ps2) and on the ps3, it'll be that much better. Also, I agree with those of you who are saying it should be more like Going Commando and less like Deadlocked. Going Commando was probably THE best R&C game- I' ve lost count of how many times I replayed that puppy. They should keep all the weapon mods from Deadlocked though, and obviously, the RYNO must return.
