    I like Ryu, and his character design, but one can say that the stigma of having inspired the design of tons of so-called 'Shoto-clones' would have a serious effect on his chances in the contest.

    i think the competition is a bit of a joke... can you really compare things like Manny Calavera to Pac-Man? You can't compare a character with story and history to an icon. The competition should have been "Best Game Icon" - makes more sense.

    also my other favorite heroes of all time Street Fighter Ryu he kicked gouki's ass, he kicked m. bison's ass once until gouki/ akuma kicked his ass for him and gouki wants revenge on Ruy, but Ryu kicked his ass
