- The Bottom Line:
- "Boring"
I received this game as a gift from a friend who swore it was one of the best peices of software ever made. I do not understand his reasoning at all.
GRAPHICS: 8 out of 10. The game is very sharp looking. The characters are cartoonish, but funny. Remember Toejam and Earl? Looks a lot like that. The game almost has a cel-shaded look to it. A lot of work was put into the graphics, and if you like "funny animal" characetrs, you'll like this game's graphics.
PLAYABILITY: 5 out of 10. This game is a run-of-the-mill platformer. There is nothing in this game that has not been done before, and done better. Psychonauts is a straight-forward third-person platformer that plays very much like Mario, Spyro, Sonic, Prince of Persia etc. The controls are not particualrly responsive, the camera wanders and has awkward angles, the levels are nothing new and, as usual, has all the repetitiveness of a platformer. Characters can earn and use "psychic" powers but nothing seemed new or unique. For a fan of the genre this may hold interest, but I saw nothing noteworthy here AT ALL.
OVERALL: 5 out of 10. The game is a solid effort, but is a run-of-the-mill platformer and cerrtainly nothing to write home about. I found the game boring.
