I never finished Moon.
I probably won't get the new one without big changes.

needs some more compelling elements like a story and characters. some gameplay variety would be nice to. RM was awesome at first but i quickly grew tired of it.

Agreed with needing a good story, that should be the easy part. I rated this game a 6/10 because it lacked a good story. I get the whole gameplay focus but why limit yourself. I truly believe if Rainbow Moon had a good story, it could have been a classic.

Rainbow Moon has a story. That's the funny thing. It's a throwback type RPG. You have to actually talk to people and read. Otherwise, you'll just assume "no story", "next battle".
Yeah, it's not on-par with something Square does, but really? Do you HONESTLY expect that for a $10 Indie title?

Of course it had a story, doesn't mean it was any good. Not sure what you're trying to argue, Every review from game companies, users and even the producers know the game was meant for game-play and not story. The look of the game may be throw back but old school RPG usually have great classic stories, not this game.

I played for the battles. They're not super deep battles, but they're certainly fun enough.
I also played to get away from story. Cut scenes, characters blabbering on.
I'm going to go find the four fiends, and light up my orbs. Deep.

...are you talking about Final Fantasy? Made like 25 years ago?
Oh man, I'm old. I still have the original cartridge, box, and maps.

Muahahaha. FF1, yup. An UNOPENED copy is the most brag-worthy thing in my collection. It even has the little tag that nintendo glued on the back, intended for hanging on displays. A decade or so ago, a friend saw this store with a boxload of them that had been sitting in the backroom somewhere.. the manager pulled em out and was selling them for $15. My friend got one, and I got two. One for playing, one to pack away unmolsted. The guy raised the price the next day on the remaining copies he had left.
I guess we salivated too much. He had no idea what he had. Talk about game merchants who don't know... uh... gaming..
