    Friends,

I picked this up for my kid, now im hooked. But I find it hard to start out in this game. Here are some questions.

    1. horses, which ones are the best/fastest. I see horses everywhere just standing around. like when you collect a bounty on someone, and kill 6 guys, so you have 6 horses standing around. What do you do with them? Shoot them? take them and sell them? how, Take the best one? which one is the best, I have no idea?

    2. Saving. Any tricks to get it to save more. How can you do your own saves anytime. I find the saves totally wacked in this game.

    3. First time Demo's or help. I did horse shoes once, had no clue what to do. that was like 20 hours ago. can I get some demo or help on how to do it again. also I only used like dead eye the times the game forces me. I have no idea how to do that, or dual. ( I know, im a terrible cowboy ) Any place in game to get help on these things.

4 Is this an rpg?? Its so story heavy, It seems just like the rpgs I play. IM am ROLE Playing this cowboy. Maybe because rpg's have level systems.

    5. Misc tips and tricks. Do you have any tips and tricks for a first time player. I am doing ok money wise. I have like $2000 sitting round, I bought every house I come across. I had NO idea you have to USE deeds/documents after you buy them, so I bought tons of stuff to NEVER use it. That was a facepalm. Got any more tips for a new player.

Thank you for your time and Patience.

Liar's Dice is a pretty easy way to make money once you unlock it since the AI is terrible at it.

The best horses in the game are the American Standardbred, Kentucky Saddler, and Hungarian Half-bred, although it's unlikely you'll find some random bandit riding them. Horses themselves aren't sellable for whatever reason, I just kill random ones, skin them, and sell the meat.

Other than that the game really isn't that hard, it's not like GTAIV where you have an actual health bar and have to be careful about taking damage, as long as you're out of harm's way you will always recover.

If you're ever in a jam and on the verge of death, Dead Eye will save you almost guaranteed, so don't be afraid to use it and buy plenty of moonshine/chewing tobacco/etc (these refill the meter instantly). For duels, once it tells you to draw, move the crosshair over your opponent's head and just repeatedly press R2.

I didn't have any problem with how often the game autosaved, my best advice here is to just buy as many safehouses as you can so you're never that far away from one. You can also use your campsite to save basically anywhere in the wilderness as long as there aren't enemies around.

    Friends,

Thank you for that great advice. I read somewhere that if you change your options/audio settings, the games saves. so I try to do that now, if im in a spot where I can not camp or sleep.

Again, thank you for your great ideas and advice. John M., will live a long and happy life now.

^Unless you are talking to a new player, but I do get your point.

    Saving? Wack?

I don't think so. I never like the auto-save feature like in Assassin's Creed 2. I always turn off auto-save whenever. Best use of it is in a game are the Batman games.

    Here's a quick tip;

-I learned that doing missions during the day is just better especially if you're actually doing bounties. Do it on perfect weather where it's just sunny. This is something I plan to do now comes GTA5. This is just my personal opinion.

-Unlock the hunter outfit and wait until you unlock the northern part. Hunt in Tall Trees for bears, elks, beavers, and bald eagles. Sell the pelts in Mexico. Be careful though as you don't wanna get mauled by a bear. This is one of the funnest ways of making money.

-If you do want quick and easy money, play Five FInger Fillet. Google up the pattern and it'll be easy. There's one in Armadillo.

Those are the few I can give you.

Yes they should, unless they've become part of pop culture like "I am your father". Especially when you're posting in reply to someone who has only just started the game and you're deliberately spoiling it to be a ****.

TC, the only horses really worth bothering with are the unique ones you find running around the wild. You get one of them automatically in a story mission near the start, and you should just stick with that. If it dies, you can buy another one from the store (and you can use the item to get any more for free)

You can save by using the campsite from your inventory. If you set a waypoint on the map before you use the campsite you can fast travel to anywhere you want that way too.

I'm not saying that the moderation on this site isn't over the top, but if there's one thing that's a real **** move, it's posting spoilers. Especially in someone else's topic who has never played the game before

    Friends,

I have been here for 9 years, yep im coming back. But this weekend was my birthday, so I was not around the computer much.

I did kinda consider your post to be a spoilers. BUT, all week long I research, and research and REsearch. and because im very nosy, I do find LOTS of spoilers, while IM looking for hints and tips. Which is my fault, but im just to curious to stop.

Tips for good weather, and during the day are good. Totally makes sense, you can control time, by sleeping, so stack the deck in your favor. Why go out with poor visibilty if you can help it.

Again, thank you all for your efforts. amazing game

I find it sad the mods and a few posters cried about it and the one guy who I "spoiled" it for didnt care. It's a 3 year old game. Spoilers have to have a shelf life otherwise we could never talk about anything ever. SPOILER ALERT Jesus died in the bible, The main chick in Psycho dies in the shower in the first 30 mins, And in the crying game the chick is actually a dude. So how ridiculous you all are?
