Played this to get some reminiscence. This game is so fun I'll probably never sell it.

Find out what makes Resistance: Fall of Man one of the strongest titles in the PlayStation 3's launch lineup in our video review.
I'm new to the PS3 and still have yet to dwell into this series. Love Ratchet & Clank and kinda regret getting Killzone 3 instead :P
Its a great game, weapons are awesome, gameplay is fluid and instinctive and the most important you can play in coop splitscreen with a friend in hard mode it can be quite an experience of fun teamwork
I laughed when i first watch the intro cutscene of Resistance 1. The main character animation is well below my expectation. After awhile, I concluded that the problem is that there too much hype on the graphic. After playing about 6 missions well i think resistance is a fun game pretty much a react along the line of Castle Wolfenstein or half life 2. Will definitely be getting Resistance 2 and 3. Final point, i don't think much of Halo 3 graphic as well. Decent but not great. Halo 3 is super short complete in less than 6 hours. Feeling a bit rip off even when i bought it as preown title.
@Fandango_Letho Nah, just reflecting on my utter disappointment on what I thought would be a great game. Played a lot of games this generation, and I'd call Resistance my biggest let-down.
@choonyos I'm a total graphics nut, and play on a large LCD. I gotta say I completely disagree with you. Play that first level one more time and tell me the graphics are decent. Then pop in another game from the SAME release era... I suggest Call of Duty 3. Compare the texturing. You'll find there ARE NONE on Resistance. Not even doing a Gears of War to Resistance cross-console comparison, because that's a slaughter. I wouldn't compare the two because GoW had a year's head start with its system. Yet the two released just 1 week apart. For others who say "yeah it's an old game what do you expect", I reply that there are plenty of older games with miles better graphics. I was underwhelmed. Resistance 2 was just as bad. This franchise does not deserve the hype it's gotten.
@PixelAddict The graphics, though 5 years old right now, are not bad. They are, even still, pretty decent on a large HDTV. Not sure what you're playing on, or comparing this to (maybe GoW 3, Rage, or one of the most new high-graphics games), but they are still very good comparatively. It was also one of the PS3's first games, so they were learning the power of the system, and catching the code up to its ability. Even still, the graphics are decent.. and this is coming from a graphics nut.
@PixelAddict Wow! A four year old game has bad graphics! I never would have expected that!
@neowolfgeo yes but u have 2 admit the graphics was the ONLY thing overly bad thing about it
@PixelAddict Never played Resistance 1, but I was disappointed with the graphics in Resistance 2.
Like others, I missed this at launch, but am finally getting around to playing it. I love the story, the framerate clips along nicely, but the graphics are terrible. I know this is an older game, but Insomniac should have put better textures in this game. In HD it looks like a last-gen game. I'm... disappointed. Don't know if I want to play the 2nd game. I might, just to see where the story goes. Please tell me the graphics are better. For real this time.
@Renoo27 Ahhh yes, I have R:R for PSP as well. I think it is better than R2 in many ways. I will know for R1 shortly-I ordered it from eBay. My rant? That was no rant, I merely tried to shed some light on the topic of this game's value. I'd hate for someone to skip a game based on the comment of somebody who should have realized they wouldn't like it pre-purchase. Also, why are you arguing with me about it? I think my original post was directed at somebody else...
@battlefrontphil: The only thing I was getting at was that your rant was pointless. And for the record I've never owned a PS3 or Resistance, though I'm really wishing I do because this looks awesome. I have Retribution for the PSP and I'm loving that. And what's that about expectations? That's a pretty bold statement from a single sentence. Try not to make that mistake again.
@Renoo27 No, I haven't played the full game yet so I can't say. What I'm getting at is that people (like you) come at games with different expectations now than when this game was released. People who played memorable games from that era (like me) are more likely to appreciate the game in spite of it's lack of shinyness. Oh, and thanks for giving me a thumbs down just for disagreeing with you.
@gMcR Yeah? Well it is an older game and your expectations were probably for a different type of game. This game hearkens back to the days of early PC gaming. In level design the geometry and layout is emphasized over textures. The game has an austere feel which focuses on how situations and weapons feel instead of how they look. Honestly, I got more enjoyment out of the demo than I got out of the entire Black Ops campaign. And the story kicks just the **** of about every game I've ever played...
Never enjoyed this much. It felt too wooden and awkward. Some cool weapons, but never got into it and it bored me. Sorry.
Yup, this guy is boring. It's good to know that GS hired Kevin to do reviews on some games(Sadly, not all games).
@MEDzZ3RO I have to say Resistance FoM did pick up a lot, started to look a lot better and was generally pretty solid to play. I completed it last night and probably will take a look at the sequel. Thanks for the tips for other games - Uncharted 2 is definitely on my wishlist and I was pretty impressed with the demo of Killzone 2 I downloaded yesterday, so I might get it even though I'm a bit tired of intense combat shooters (these days I prefer to chill out with slower paced RPGs!). What I'm really waiting for on the PS3 is the HD remakes of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and of course The Last Guardian... am gutted its been put back until end of next year!
@neuroboy Both sequels are better. After an fps and action game with visuals and gameplay?,buy Killzone 3,Uncharted 2 and God Of War 3.
I bought a PS3 a few days back for Blu-Rays and PS3 exclusives (I have a 360 for most gaming plus a Wii and a PC too!) and bought this and Uncharted secondhand. Finished Uncharted in two sittings... superb game, though a bit too much shooting and not quite enough exploring and platforming. I just started Resistance and I can't say I'm at all impressed, with the gameplay but especially with the visuals. Probably the blandest looking game I've played in a long time, with awful non-existant textures (I was expecting them to 'pop in' Mass Effect-syle but they didn't!) and fairly weak effects. I felt like I was playing Call Of Duty on the PC circa 2003. I know this game is 3 years old, but Half-Life 2 predates it by 3 more years and that (still!) looks and plays fantastic. Can anybody tell me if it improves later on in the game?
Great game and was more difficult than the second one in my opinion the normal difficulty was ridiculous later in the game. This was perfect in my opinion.
The game is good but uses an old formula, you can't compare to today's games but yet a solid game also my first PS3 game ever...
game is ok i bought it on ebay for cheap im going to trade it in for the second one after i am done with it.
I haven't played this game or the 2nd for that matter, but it looks like sooooooo many other games these day's! I.e. made just for the (hard-core) gamers! I'm starting to get really pist at these game-devs. Oh right and they give you what they call (easy-difficulty) setting/option. Yah right, easy if again, your a hardcore gamer! I consider myself somewhere in between/meddle of casual & hardcore. Oh well enough of my going on & on right...lol! Just a thought! Happy-gaming all!
I didn't like this game that much on the first play through. I really like the game a lot even to this day though, beating it about 3-4 times.
I will get slaughtered for this but I never liked it. Found it really repetitive and an absolute chore to play. The weapons, even the power weapons, felt weak and empty. A bit like shooting a water pistol or light gun. The enemies were also repetitve and stupid. When you think Biohshock, Dead Rising etc came out before this, it really doesn't live up to the hype. Just my opinion of course
