- May 13, 2012 2:51 am GMTI got the Monkey trainer talent. I couldn't figure out how to use the actual monkey yet. I looked at a list of some of places you can use the monkey. i went to one, but I can't figure out how to activate the monkey and use it.
- May 13, 2012 3:06 am GMTOpen your inventory and click on it or assign it to a quickslot. It is under 'Usable Items' I think.

If you believe in the Flying Spaghetti Monster, have accepted him as your lord and savior, and are 100% proud of it, put this in your sig. - May 13, 2012 3:38 am GMTI bought a trained monkey on Tacarigua. Now on the island looking for Crow, with Steelbeard and Patty, the monkey has disappeared from inventory. What's going on?
- May 13, 2012 4:58 am GMTIf you get the monkey killed, it will disappear and you can't get it again. It's a bug. So avoid getting the monkey killed, I guess.

Well, if you got the monkey killed, you have another chance to get another one with 1000 gold on Antiqua. After that, you are screwed if you got it killed again - May 13, 2012 11:01 am GMTI would like to have a cheap shot of my own, maybe spawn a trained monkey or add one to inventory. I had one on the previous island, but after sailing to the sword coast, no monkey. I previously had the monkey equiped. Maybe with it not equiped and in inventory would keep it safe.
After landing on the island of natives, noticed a temple and inside were two broken doors with a large crack at the bottom of each. I thought "hey, I've got a monkey that could get through there". That's when I noticed my trained monkey was gone. Oh well... - May 14, 2012 2:52 am GMTThe Trainers who offer Monkey Training have extra monkeys that you can buy. Select "Trade" from the dialogue option and check what they have for sale.

"Take your best shot, Flatlander woman". JC Denton. - May 14, 2012 9:23 am GMTFound out this the hard way; after buying the trained monkey from Flannigan, on Ticarigua, I forgot to get monkey training from him. After assigning the monkey to a quick slot, it eventually dissappeared. Following are two cheats to set you up;

Oh look. groupersoup is trolling this forum as well. Well since you closed your other topic, anybody who's interested can look at his trolling on the ME3 boards as well.

Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. - May 14, 2012 4:39 pm GMTAlso on topic, I have found a couple of times where the monkey is required. In any of those tombs, you can sometimes see what looks like shut stone doors, but they have a little hole in the bottom corner. That hole is for your monkey to run through and pull a lever so you can get in there and loot the place up.

Best part of that thread: when he complains that BioWare didn't give an on-screen prompt informing him he has to move the mouse to use the interface. It's a wonder he can even post on the forums if mouse-movement is such an unnatural thing for him.

thenocturnalrambler.blogspot.com - May 14, 2012 6:07 pm GMTToo bad not one person in here understand the concept of instructions in a game because they are too think headed to understand the laws about product release and somehow have adapted that because they know about something, and so do other gamers, then therefore the game doesn't need iit or instructions and the basics of the game do not need to be included and explained either.
Gamers have become so dumb and selfish. - May 14, 2012 6:20 pm GMTOff topic, how do I ignore someone in GameFaqs? I've had just enough.

At the bottom you can select to block him and never see him spew facts ever again.

Assuming that was directed at me.
If you guys stop acting like complete and utter fools and learn about how the industry works and stop trying to cause problems with people just because you disagree with it and or are just going with the masses. You will be better off.
You brought your own problems on yourself because you cannot let anyone say anything then making a big deal about it. - May 14, 2012 8:52 pm GMTgroupersoup posted...

I know right. If a gamer is too dumb to know that you're supposed to move the mouse to interact with a video game's interface, and too selfish to bother reading the instruction manual, then I guess he should just find a new hobby.

Thank you, sir. I have ignored him, but I can still see his previous posts. I guess I will have to bear them.
Edit: Oh, never mind. They're gone now. Thanks again.

As for Groupersoups comment, I'm somewhat inclined to agree with him. It's an odd design choice to not include any sort of instructions for the monkey. From what I remember, it doesn't even say anything on the skills screen. Also, for moves like the parry, it gives you in-game instructions on how to use it. it's just a bit inconsistent.
I've heard that alot of european game companies, especially those making RPGs tend to hardly hold the players hand. It's noticeable if you go compare Risen 2 to something like Skyrim. I study game design and I guess most of it has been geared towards western audiences. I mean, its usually expected for mechanics like this to have some tutorial in games these days.
A lot of Risen 2's design choices are at odds with what I learn, and seem bad to me. That said, I still found it as - if not more - enjoyable than Skyrim, Dragon Age, or Witcher 2. - May 15, 2012 4:10 pm GMTSaltydoghaydenzam posted...

What have you DONE? Agreeing with him will only make it worse! T_T

Do I misread this somehow or are you implying European gamers don't belong into the whole 'western audience' category? ^^
On another note: eastern European companies/game developers sometimes don't even include a manual and expect the players to discover everything for themselves, which can be quite interesting and very rewarding, but also frustrating at times.
But yes, overall you're right with the hand-holding, most Europeans I know (which is quite a lot actually) don't like to be spoon-fed every little piece of information by a game, as it completely destroys any sense of achievement.
A lot of Risen 2's design choices are at odds with what I learn, and seem bad to me. That said, I still found it as - if not more - enjoyable than Skyrim, Dragon Age, or Witcher 2.
If you haven't played Gothic 1-3 already, you should absolutely do so, since they're the predecessors for the Risen series and very similar and quite honestly a lot better but way harder sometimes, at least up until the point where you can totally break the game by summoning 20 stone golems and 150 skeletons to fight for you, if you so desire. Just once or twice though, after that all your scrolls are gone ;P
What I really wanted to say about the last part is this though: Risen 2 had a lot to live up to over here in Europe, since Gothic was more widespread here than anywhere else in the beginning, so they used tried and true elements that were well received in the previous games (apart from the monster stunlock thing, we had that in Gothic 3 and NOBODY was happy about it, believe me...)
Long story short: I write way too much when I'm tired... Risen 2 could be better but it's still a good game imho, it could be far worse, look at Gothic 3 right after launch. THAT was freaking horrible and the buggiest game I've ever played >_>
