- "Disappointing"
I'm a big fan of Macross/Robotech but I dislike this game a lot.The game is too hard because it gives you little margin for error when dodging enemy fire and the levels are very long and when you run out of lives(which unless you're a very good player, you will because of the game's high difficulty),you'll need to replay long, tough levels from the beginning again.
The game plays as a horizontal scrolling shooter. You cannot fly very high, which makes it difficult to dodge enemy fire because there isn't much space between your maximum altitude and the ground and often you'll need to move your aircraft forward and back to dodge enemy fire and it's a very delicate process and it's easy for your aircraft to get hit by enemy fire and destroyed. To make things more annoying,if your aircraft touches the ground, your aircraft will get damaged! Which makes an already delicate process even more delicate because you'll try to quickly decrease in altitude to dodge enemy fire/aircraft but if you do it too hard your aircraft will touch the ground and will get damaged/destroyed.You can transform into the battloid but it's useless because the battleloid moves too slowly to dodge enemy fire, even though the battleloid can walk on the ground and fly in the air.
You can upgrade your fighter after you complete a level using experience points, but even on normal difficulty(which is the game's easiest difficulty)the game is too hard for it's own good.
You can select Rick,Roy,Max,Miriya as pilots. But nevertheless, the game's horrible gameplay ruins this game.
The graphics have a nice, bright use of colors and it's nice to fly over cities or in space and because the game is a side scrolling game,it means the buildings/objects underneath you will look bigger. You'll see story scenes that show familiar faces from the TV show such as Lisa and Gloval and the game uses the Robotech theme music which will make it a bit more appealing but it's not enough to save this game.
Overall,Robotech The Macross Saga is a poor game with a great license.

Terrible graphics, no storyline, and hard difficulty make this a very difficult game to get into
