Since there's been a ridiculous amount of topics asking about the exporting song feature I decided to just make a topic explaining everything for you! =D
Q: What does the export song feature do?
A: It takes 55 of the 58 songs from the disk and puts onto your hardrive to be used in future rockband titles.
Q: What songs won't be exported?
A: Enter Sandman. Paranoid, and Run to the Hills
Q: Why?
A: Harmonix had to relicense the songs for future rockband titles and they couldn't get these songs.
Q: Wait, do I have to pay for these songs?
A: There is a 400 pt ($5.00) relicensing fee to export the songs
Q: How much space does it take up on my hardrive?
A: 1.52 Gigs
Q: I really hate ____ song. Can I get rid of it once I exported the songs?
A: Yes, I'm not sure if you can get it back though, so choose carefully.
Q: Do I need to own the game to export the songs?
A: No, you just pay the fee and the songs are yours
Thats all I can think of at the moment. Please add to it and request sticky. Thank you.

There is a way to get rid of songs you don't want. Go to the dashboard and find your game data. Go to the Rock Band game data section and you'll see all the exported tracks. You can delete individual tracks that way.
For more information on exporting and the such I direct your attention to this video.

I really don't know if this warrants a sticky, but I'll request it to be anyway.

Hey I got a question. Where do I get the thing that costs 400 MSP to put RB1 music on my hard drive for RB2? I do not own RB1 but I have a friend going to let me borrow it tomorrow. Also I looked on the market place for it, but I didn't find anything for 400 MSP thats dealing with it. Also this might be a good thing to put in the FAQ!

I think they locked up a lot of the catalog for Guitar Hero: Metallica.

There is an update for the RB game to allow you to export songs. Yes, you must export through the game (and obviously the game must be updated to the latest version).
