will i miss anything?

Brand new to Saints until last week when i picked up SR3. Played 3 missions and love it, as it so much fun. Anyways people on the 3rd board keep saying SR2 is best in the series. So i have stopped playing 3, and i got SR2 earlier.

Really want to start it but before I do I am wondering should I not play and pick up and play the first game.

Now i can wiki the story of 1 if need be, but i just wondered what else i'd be missing, I have heard online is pretty fun but also quite dead.

Also do i really need to know the story of part 1?

I played 3 before I played 2 and I was able to get by with just reading the Wiki to learn who some of the people are.

SR3's "story" has nothing to do with SR2 or SR1, part of the reason why I hated The Third. I'd play SR1 and SR2 if I were you. They aren't as wacky but so much more fulfilling.

There's only tidbits of info that you won't know from the first. I mean, I would get it if money is no issue. But the second just builds upon the first with adding more to the story.

But, be warned, don't take any type of knowledge from SR3. Heck, when you play SR2 you'll most likely don't know what happened to the third
