- "Disappointing"
Saints Row 2 is by far one of my favourite open world action games to date. It is probably right up there with Assassins Creed Red Dead Redemption and all that. So as expected I was extremely excited when volition inc. announced a third game in the series. I was disappointed
Saints Row has been known for its over the top action and even more notably its forgettable story. By far the third has the worst of all 3. Saints row had an identity crisis when it was first released because it felt like a cheap rip-off GTA San Andreas. Although silly that was more shown in the games side missions rather than the main story itself as it had a decent serious tone to it. Saints Row 2 was even more over the top as it was much crazier than its predecessor. The story had its multiple serious if dark GTA like moments though. In Saints Row The Third they completely thrown that away and focus on the series stronger strengths (i.e the over the top action). Though they try with the death of a favourite and memorable character in the beginning of the game,it is clear what volition was focussing on. Fun. So what we get is The Saints now complete media hores rather than actual gangsters (something pointed out by the same character who dies later in the game) have been kidnapped by a much larger gang known as The Syndicate who demand that the saints become their B*tches. Of course your character The saints leader disagrees you escape and find yourself in the Pittsburgh like city of Steelport. From their like before try to get the saints known by doing generic urban assault missions on other sub gangs in the city. The way you play these simple minded missions is much more linear than before. In Saints Row 2 you had to gain enough "respect" and unlock story missions. now you simple open your phone and choose a mission from there. This means you are not focussing on the side missions like you had to before. not that you really need too,as most are familiar to veteran Saints Row players. A notable knew one is "Mr. Genki's super ethical climax". Here you the player completes an arena by killing various costumed people and gain points for scoring head shots, nut shots etc. Though a bit repetitive it is farely fun and creative. By far the best thing about Saints Row The Third is its vast customization. Though not being able to make your own walk and facial expression like in Saints Row 2 you still have alot of options on what your character looks like that most games can't complete against. you can be fat, skinny or muscular, have big boobs or a big erm male part. You can be a man in women's clothes and vice versa. And if you get tired of what your character looks like you can go to a plastic surgeon to even change your gender for a price of course. not only is your character customizable but your vehicle is too with body mods and performance enhancements as well. As I said this game is more graphically impressive than Saints row 2 but is still outdated for 2011. Though what you look for in Saints Row The Third is not graphics or story but fun and this game pulls it off well. I haven't even mentioned half the things you can do in this game like the amazing co op,whored mode and much more. A pretty good entraining fun game.

A bombastic and fun game that's worth playing, but could be improved upon.

This game doesn't take itself seriously, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't.
