Ok well people are saying that Minecraft will be the only good game Mojang will ever make, and I agree and disagree with that.
Mojang, technically isn't an indie game developer organisation anymore, but they still act like they are. Minecraft is a prime example of that as it is a fairly unique game. Now Scrolls isn't the first of it's kind but it still is an 'out there' idea, it isn't similar to the mainstream, top selling games out there like Call of Duty, Halo and Grand Theft Auto. So in this way, the company is still indie. Now Minecraft is pretty popular, even though it is an 'out there' idea, but that doesn't mean all Mojang's games are going to appeal to the average gamer. That isn't what they are trying to achieve. If they were, they would just make another First Person Shooting based in modern times with amazing cut-scenes. But that isn't what Mojang is trying to do, and for that, I love them. I am sick of playing the same kind of games over and over. It's nice they have brought my attention to different styled games that I wouldn't have had an interest in before.
@Ultra_Jedit
What the fuck is your definition of indie? An indie dev is one with lower numbers of employees that doesn't have to answer to big publishers (because they self-publish) or have big budgets (save for those times where enough people want the game that the company makes millions from crowd-sourcing), it's not about being unique like that. You can get indie devs making CoD clones and, while the idea of such a thing is horrible and an affront to all gaming, those clones would still be indie games because the would be made under the aforementioned conditions of the developing company. Really nothing to do with being 'out there'.
@Oldenheimer1913 No, I am saying that technically they are not indie game developers anymore because of their development of Cobalt. If you have read about Cobalt, you will find that in some aspects, it was a collaboration of a couple of indie game developing companies. Mojang were the publishers of Cobalt. In this aspect, like the bigger developers, the game was created by a lot of people. May point being is that, although they are now technically not an indie gaming company, they still make games as if they are. The fact that they are not indie is true, but how they stylize their games is just my interpretation of an indie style, which isn't based on fact but more by opinion.
