I hope that DX11 does more to help gaming than 10 did. At least Tessellation and Directcompute has potential to be as valuable to games as pixel shaders have become. I'm also glad that Nvidia wont be the only ones with video cards that can also accelerate physics and such, perhaps, then catching it on more in the industry rather than just graphical gimmicks. Tesselation might be the first thing in a long time to eliminate LOD switching, and make games more adaptable to the hardware on which their played. Imagine a game that could see that the framerate was dropping below 30, and automatically remove just enough polygons from the backgrounds to keep the action smooth. Tessellation may be answer for the issue of optimization for wide range of PC setups, without needing to remake assets 5 times over for different setups to run it smooth. Here's hoping that they utilize the technology this time, and the market finds it attractive enough to spend out on.

Hah, cool, it's like the 'Crysis' of racing-games eh.

And FINALLY, some real 3D and detailed crowds.
I mean, some games already had it the last bunch of years, but this just looks so much more alive.
They should do the sports-games like this too.
I wanna see them do the wave. LOL

This would totally RAPE my system though, with like 0.01fps.
As 'DiRT' already ran at... well, single digits per second. lol
'GRID' runs smooth though, but with any of these games I can definitely not enjoy the full-on detailed graphics. :\

Should've been 'Ken Block DIRT 2'. I wonder if CM will drop Colin McRae and adopt Ken Block instead. McRae was a World Champion but he's also very dead. Time to breath new life into the franchise and Block has an appealing character that would easily carry the game forward for a few more years.

    @ SyrusKahn

DIRT 2 for PC has been delayed until December because they want to implement Direct X 11 support for the new video cards coming out in Q4 09/ Q1 2010... Look for it around December 11th i think...

Zoomer30 your mistaken, my pc is not worth $ 1k and can run all games in market in the maximum visual without losing fluidity, and the pc's visual is and it will allways be better than the consoles.

    Hmmm....lets compare:

    1. Get a $2k+ PC to run the game with good visuals

    2. Get a PS3 or 360 for a tenth of the cost and get the same visuals

    The math is simple.

  • Zoomer30

    Posted Sep 23, 2009 11:06 am GMT

Also seems like on hood cam its much easier to correct for the car when it starts to slide, trying to drive in 3rd person mode is like driving with boxing gloves on by comparsion.

  • Zoomer30

    Posted Sep 23, 2009 11:05 am GMT

@Granulated I raced in the 3rd person most of the demo, but when I got to the game I switched to hood/windscreen cam. I was having a hell of a time with 3rd person even though it seemed fine on the demo. In the full game I was just fighting the car, come to find out I was having to "wait" for the cam to come around to the new direction of travel.

Hood is much better, you always looking the way your going. Cant really do cockpit, I am not that hardcore. I tried it a few times, just cant see enough and I dont have a good wheel/pedel setup/

So for Colin Mcrae 2005 then can have 4 player splitscreen on the original xbox, but no splitscreen support at all for the 360! That is pathetic. No 4 player splitscreen means I'm not wasting my money on a single player racing game.
