@livevil01 How can you comment on this?! As you obviously haven't tried this on a gd pc to see its potential! How have you not got a basic dual core? I had my 1st dual core years ago haha. I guess your right about the COD stuff as they are rubbish and unrealistic (their cartoon/kids games) but hey I'm a Rainbow Six player.

this game is sucks!!! u can only play this if your pc is dual core... this game is nothing compare to COD 4 modern warfare and COD modern war fare 2...

@tommobeast2 how can u even say half the crap you did? This game is semi realistic at most, if you shoot a 203 round directly at the ground below you, it blows up. Is that realistic? In reality they spin and have a certain amount of rotations/distance they have to fly b4 detonation can occur. 10/10? Maybe if you're scaling how crap they made this game. If you want a realistic military experience.... 1.get a bangin pc.... 2.buy arma 2. OPFDR is COD, with bullet drop. That's it. You can take way too many rounds in this game to be believable, oh wait, unless you take a shot to the head (and that doesn't even always work). You ever watch the E3 video of this game? The guy shows taking a shot to the face and healing himself....since when does that happen? This is NOT a real warfare game, if you fool yourself into thinking that, you're exactly that....a fool.
@yansz10.. yes every game has glitches, but this game is oozing with them. Also it will take more than a few patches as you say to sort them out. Codemasters officially sucks after this one, how you mess up the vehicles after releasing a game like GRID? This game is more like a beta version than anything else. The type of game devs and their mothers need to be slapped for....twice.

This is just a good game with a few glitches that need ironing out. What game doesn't? Basically every shooter/game has loads of patches to sort out their problems. This game just needs a patch or few to sort out these problems. This game also needs dedicated servers for online as way too many 32 player hosts with 500k connections

andy 5 guns your right about everything you said in your comment hamdog51885 hasnt got a clue with how to play real warfare games more like hes talking aload of b u l l s h i t it really p i s s i s me off whn people like hamdog put the game on for five min and thn comes on here and strts slaging it off .for me its without doubt a great and real life warfare game and truly delivers a real life battle ground . so for thoes of you who are thick and dont rate this game go back to" cartoon of duty" "sorry let me rephase that" call of duty .!!!! ."flashpoint really does make cod 4, and cod 5, and even cod warfare2," a little boys game". "well done codemasters and ego for delivering such a top and real to life shooter its now my no1 two"! "everything about it is great the guns the way they sound the graphics and all the sounds in dolby digitial i;ts perfect i recomend it to all who are willing to show how they would go about frontline action 10/10

I dont care what you think .. i bought this for £27 from Asda lol
and it is Quality Atmospheric i played on normal for 1 st 5 missions and already changed it to hardcore tht is what you PC players are probly looking for . on hardcore it really does feel like your in the thick of it you easily get lost though i think you shld get a compass at least. i dont believe the person who completed it in 6 hrs . then again i dont believe most of the ppl who rate this game low because i dont think they get the fact that it was made for the consoles . admit it should of just been called Dragon Rising as can see why some are hacked off. i like most shooters but this is now my Number 1 in fact i am Bored of COD now too unrealistic LOL too Arcady LOL too Kiddy LOL goin have a pop little boys.. andy5guns SOB

This game is way to difficult for me. I mean honestly how many times do you have to shoot a guy to kill him? 2 maybe 3? Try 6 in this game... Complete BS. Waste of money!

I love FPS's, but this is sadly a terrible fps. I play halo 1-3, killzone 1-2, Coded Arms, Cod1-5 soon 6, and more. This game sux so bad. Played 3 levels and shut it off. bad fps and lacking a catch, feels incomplete and I haven't played op1, and didnt really know there was one before it when i played. This game is just bad. A quickly put together fps with numerous mistakes...

Over rated!, clocked it in less then 6 hours. Graphics are like you are playing your old PS1. Way to short and looks the same right through the game. When I play a game I want to feel like I can't wait to play it again, well don't hold your breath, 6 hours and it was over, I am sure people will like this, and yes I did not mind it, but we live in 2009, and I just want more from a game these days. 1 point for the not so bad weapons, 1 point for trying and 1 point for killing my boredom for 6 hours, so 3 out of 10 for this one. Wait till you find it in the bargain bin!

Its funny... you guys complain and complain about how glitchy the game is. now think about this. what game, ever, has been made and not been glitchy or lag alot. Also some people talk about how bad the game play is. next time you buy a game, do some research on it first. sure the first ofp was vary sweet but that doesn't mean this one is. I haven't been able to play it yet because my ps3 is in the shop, but i read reviews and watch movies every second i can to see if its worth buying, even if i feel like its going to be a good game.

needs improvment, many many many many many many many patches to fix many many many many glitches, bad handling vehicles, enemies coming back to life, shot a guy in a jeep and the jeep keeps driving, takes sometimes 3 rockets to blow a jeep up, guys walk over your claymores, enemies sometimes sit there and stare and do nothing if they dont see u, every house has nothing in it, team don't respond to commands very well try suppress fire they bairly do it, loaded a game and my team wasn there just there equipment. i could go on

  • yamato_musashi

    Posted Oct 18, 2009 7:39 pm GMT

note, one thing I think they did wrong is I don't think modern firearms have such obvious muzzle flashes. They tend to have muzzle flash suppressors so enemies won't be able to spot you from a mile away. I mean, why is there muzzle flash during the day? Just a minor gripe, lol. I might be wrong.

I liked the game but you never get to pilot a chopper, or to use a heavy vehicle as part of a mission. This first screenshot is taken at the last stage of the last mission, and I never saw that helicopter to show. The first OF was a lot better than this one, this one feels incomplete.

@tolkfanhotmail... You are a retard and don't even make sense, combat can be emulated, and it is in the military. It's called a VTS, so don't talk about what you have no clue about..calling people kids, lol, with your knowledge shown I'm guessing you are one yourself. Just to back it up, the US military uses the engine from arma 2 in their training simulators, ironically...not the one from this falsely advertised, misleading, never in it's lifespan being a real military sim game.

@NemanjaVidic... I believe that you are probably twelve and haven't ever played the first flashpoint, otherwise you'd think this is crap.

  • drwrir

    Posted Oct 17, 2009 8:24 pm GMT

There is nothing wrong with run and gun shooters, they have their place, but don't claim this is the greatest military simulator ever.....THAT IS COMPLETE BS. They dulled this game down, made it a console port to pc, which is the opposite of how it's supposed to be done, and somehow brainwashed people into thinking this was deserving of the OPF name. They should of named it Dragon Rising, and there would be no problem. Now a days, games are made to appeal to the masses, not TRUE, hardcore gamers. The days gamers were outcasts, I cherished those as well as the days.

Every soccer mom and average joe has a console as of late, and being the simplicity of control styles with consoles, it's a bigger money market due to ease for consumer compatability. I don't care about arguments, go play the first flashpoint, come back, and then try to dillusionally explain how this game deserves the name it's branded with. I feel sad, because I looked forward to this game so bad for so long and all I purchased was disappointment. I'll end in saying this. If you buy a table, and the leg is wobbly, you can still use the table, it won't collapse on you, but it's faulty. You can still return the table, correct? What defines exactly why games/software can avoid this typical consumer rule of thumb if you will? Until some kind of line is drawn to help the customer no progress will be made. I know piracy is a problem, but that is partially the game industries fault. People would still do it regardless, but if people had more confidence in the products that they dished so much money for they'd be more willing to purchase them outright.

With all the buggy and incomplete crap published, and the current state of the economy, people are hard for money, I can relate to how difficult of a decision it is to hand that 40-60 dollars to that pimple-faced kid behind the counter at Gamestop or Circuit City. Just because a game is about war doesn't label it a war simulation, if that was the case, COD, Delta Force, Rainbow Six, and a whole list that would take too long to mention games would be war simulators. Sorry about the wall of text, but I'm fed up with people mislabeling this game as much as Codemasters did.

Unfortunatly.... a big dissapointment. If we could mix ARMA2 and FlashPoint DR we could get something we waited for. This game is an empty shell of former title. Been gamer since Amstrad and Commodore and last two years brought me two greatest dissapointments: Conan and now Flashpoint Bragon Liesing. Developers i hope u can detach from investors in near future. This is just sad.

Ok so its not perfect but its a good game, so what there's bugs... these WILL get fixed in time, and the reason there are things missing from the game is probably because the team ran out of money? being a game developer isnt cheap! and from what ive seen and played so far, this game is awesome unless your a child!
and i prefer playing online with adults that use brain cells instead of kids that use there mouths!

Yes the bugs are huge when you get them, and the are more frequent than most games. Play online and try to drive a transport truck and you will tip over in less than a minute, its rediculous. The game has flaws, and they better f'ing fix them with some patches soon. Playing online once, I hopped out of my Stryker I was in and it glitched and made me a hood ornament and I could not more or rotate or do anything. Had to quit that game to fix it.
But the game is quite fun if you don't get a glitch. I quite enjoy playing online, Infiltration is fun. And sniping is so realistic, have to use the mil dots in the scope for anything further than 300 meters, which is common if your a sniper. And iron sights suck if your fighting against enemies that have thermal sights and crap like that. Kill one as quickly as you can and take their stuff. I quite enjoyed this game and will continue to play it.

"Massive open-world 220KM2 battlefield"? This is a complete lie. As soon as you pass the invisible wall surrounding the AO, your mission will end. There is no massive open-world. False advertising if you ask me.

"70 weapons"? You are forced the use pre-sets of different variations of only a handful of weapons. An M4 with a different scope or silencer is not a different weapon. But hey what does it matter, it's not like you can actually choose anything let alone customize them. Welcome to 2009.

"50 land, sea, and air vehicles."? Where? Oh forget it, it's not like you actually want to use them anyway. Worst vehicle handling i have ever experienced in a game my life. Ever seen a tank or truck bounce or Humvee's drifting like mad every turn you make? In this game you can. Amazingly realistic!

Clearly this game was not ready for release.

My main gripe with this is the lack of Stand Alone severs. It the only way you can host large games lag free.It says on the back of the Box best played on Multi Player on DSAS.There is none. They never coded one.Not a big deal for the console guys.Big deal for the clan PC players. There's no Anti cheat or Keys on the CD.So any one can hack it and play.
So basic'ly it DOESN'T do what it says on the box.So I canceled mine.If they fix it I'll pick it up.I'd have forgiven alot but wih me its all about the multiplayer .
And at the moment its broke.

"online much better than ARMA 2" LOL
It dosn't EVEN have stand alone severs. No anti Cheat built into the netcode. And there no key so anyone hacking the game can log online and play.If there were severs, which there are not.Its utter rubbish online.

i wish people would stop saying things like "epic fail". It doesnt make sense if the game itself isnt meant to be "epic" in stature. where would you get the idea that this game was an epic fail anyway? have you even played it or did a reviewer just tell you that? most of the reviews state that the game has some bugs but other than that, its absolutely great in acheiving its goals... therefore not a failiure.
