Wow. Why so much hate for spelunky? Did any of you even play it? The game is absolutely amazing. I can't see how any of these other games can even come close to comparing. This game has infinite replay value, perfect controls, extreme difficulty, and is just all around very very fun.

Spelunky? you have to be kidding me . Trine 2 is amazing and was a worthy successor to Trine. Far more deserving than Spelunky which is just a remake.
Wow, good stuff here. I still have to finish Trine 2. Splunky seemed to pass by without me even noticing. Still, grats all around for the top 5.

5 Like Pretty bull, Trine 2 or NSBU should be a lot better. NSBU is the best Mario 2D platformer since Super Mario World, and Trine 2 is just gorgeus, love the directors cut on Wii-U.
2 Like Remember 3D platformers? It's too bad game companies can't unlock the secrets of our ancestors and create more of these masterpieces. If Mario 64 was released this year, it would win this award by a mile.
1 Like I just got into Spelunky. It is amazingly addictive. Like everything I wanted in Boulder Dash and then a million layers attached to it. So devious too. This is a heartwarming victory.
@Pinbotic YOu must be joking, everything on the Vita is failing and LBP was nothing special. Did you see the COD BLOPS2 game for it? It got a 2.5. If any review site anywhere from games to movies gives something a 2.5 that means bad. Besides AC Liberation got 4.5. Even though I am wondering off my main topic, what I am meaning to say is that NO Vita games should have won anything this year. Thank You and have a nice day.

This is a tough friggin' category, man. Spelunky brings the fundamentals hard and backs it up with depth and style. Trine 2 was charming and beautifully rendered, Soundshapes might be the most interesting game of this bunch, and even New Super Mario Bros U is supposed to be the best of those games (even if there are a ton of them now).
@Supabul Definitely NO. FFA is actually worse then the last R&C game that was released on the PS3. Not sure what the hell Isomniac Games is doing.

What happened to Gravity Rush? That was a great game, and I guess it would fit in this category.
any of these game's that would win would be a great choice because ALL of these games were fun as fuck xD
