This week Johnny faces the hordes of commenters talking about our Resident Evil 6 review. Is there really No Hope Left? Tune in and find out!
1-2 is unplayable/no or poor story. 3-5 is playable and may have bugs/ story poor or bad or horroble gameplay. 6-8 game is playable may have bugs/ good story or brilliant gameplay with poor story. 8-10 (10 IS THE BLOODY CAP, YOU CANNOT GO OVER IT, IT IS A 10/10 SYSTEM YOU BLOODY LOONIES) game is playable with minor bugs/ brilliant story and gameplay or innovative gameplay
My scale of things in gamespot. And me being a ps3 and pc fanboy: Halos from beyond 2 are basically additional story only and deserves the same treatment as COD (aka. stagnating). Cannot get why you accept the new halo from a different developer than the original dev, Like trying to protect a terminally ill baby, sucking the nutrients out of your pocket like cod.
Well, I guess those of us unhappy with the direction RE is going can look forward to the RE creator's new IP codenamed "Zwei" being developed by his own studio. It sounds like he's been yearning to make a true survival horror game. "I've found my focus and once again I'm striving for pure survival horror. I am being very hands-on in the development of this game to ensure that the quality is there. Rest assured." - Shinji Mikami
On an unrelated note: I've been using "And you have more buttonnns!!!" and "So who is bastard?!" in everyday conversation recently, to good effect. Try it yourselves.
I hate RE 6, nothing is going to change that. I give it a 2...if you like the series, rent, don't buy, that's my OPIONION!!
gamespot gave the game a 4.5 ot of ten and every other company gave it a 7.75 to 8.75 game spot please learn how to review a game
@jets78 Maybe all the other companies need to learn how to review a game. Numbnuts.
Sorry fanboys, RE6 coop AI Is not improved over RE5. Capcom cheated and gave them invincibility and unlimited ammo. They still need to be babysat constantly with the game still feeling like an extra long escort mission.
@GalvatronType_R You sound like you've played RE6, then you should know that the co-op AI can't die, either, so why would you need to babysit them?
I used to like the logo of the game but you ruined for me with that dirty mind of yours :@
The problem here is that resident evil 6 doesn't live up to what everyone's expections, I mean even for me it wasn't as good as I expected, the game doesn't have those suspense moments or the game isn't as scary as it's predecessors, It's more or less turning from a survival horror to a action/adventure/horror game and I am seeing this happening to some games now for example Dead Space 3 I don't know what to expect of that game....
@NARUtotheFISH I'm still holding out hope for DS3, but I realize after RE6 that the bar has been... lowered slightly, for the Survival Horror genre.
If you can even call RE6 a Survival Horror game.
I'll wait for Black Friday when this game will be available for $15 like nukem forever last year
realy dont compare this game to duke nukem forever re 6 is still a good game despite not being as scary as the other games it a realy fun and thrilling game and there is over 50 hours of game play not to much to complain about.
Man, resident evil 6 improved a lot compared to 5. The formula is pretty much still the same but the tweaks to the gameplay where phenomenal. I feel like I have tons of more control over my player now and the co-op gameplay worked flawlessly. Look at 5 and then 6. What I see is improvements across the board. Better graphics, Longer story, More player variety, better movement, Better aiming, skill point system enabling player upgrades, better AI, Better story, And better voice acting. The series probably wont be the same as the Resident evil Dream Team from the 90's and early 2000's again. Which is what alot of fans wanted from what ive been reading.. Call me a fanboy and bash me for it, That 4.5 rating sounds extremely painful and I had a awesome time playing this game. Sequels are meant to improve upon the previous title... well it did that. I mean you cant just pop in 5 and be like "god these controls are so much better that 6" and be able to prove it. Im trying to look at it through all perspectives here and the end result is that the game is decent and enjoyable at the very least. I have a review on the game after I repeated it you guys should read It if you want to see some criticism on the GameSpot review through my perspective. Thanks and happy gaming guys.
The graphics aren't much better; RE6 looks too plain. There's no art direction. But, the gameplay is really, really fun. So, when you compare RE5 to 6 (which are both straight-up action games), yes RE6 is the better action game. However, I do not agree at all in terms of the story or progression. The story of 5 still manages to be interesting (it just feels stream-lined and horror-less), while the story of 6 is so bafflingly ridiculous and forgettable that it makes Chris's boulder punch scene look like an award-winner. That, and they removed the ability to customize your loadout; something that you'd think they'd put bigger emphasis on since it's trying to appeal to the COD fanbase. I see what they were trying to do in giving certain characters unique abilities, which is good, but limiting our weapon selection was not necessary for that.
"What's that, Helena, you say you're out of ammo? Well, that's too darn bad!, you don't get a knife!"
RE6 took 1 step forward in good controls, but a step backward everywhere else. The Gamespot review, though harsh, is not too far off the mark.
Gamespot reviews are somewhat meaningless to me now, though they have been for some time, the RE6 review was the final nail in the coffin. I'll still turn in for the news articles though.
@Alucard_Prime Yea. What caught me off guard with this is that GameSpot is biased to big franchises and score them high. You can expect them to score halo 4 and Cod black ops 2 really high despite halo 4 looking really bland and uninspired and COD becoming nothing more than dry MP craziness. Before anyone counter attacks me I will be getting both of those games because I will likely find them enjoyable to the very least and have a good time with friends. Hopefully....
@choicemaker @Alucard_Prime It was too slow paced gameplay for the americans this quick time events , because they are used to play ADD multiplayer games like black ops/ modern warfare, that they started to loose their patience :(.
Did anyone catch on to the JuiceBoxJerry comments which GS sublimely passed on as comming from different individuals? Hilarious!
Although I don't agree with the low score I'm beginning to understand where they're coming from. In essence Leon's campaign is enjoyable enough, there are notable set pieces where you are forced to react at the games pace ie shoot at certain times, react in certain way and kill at a certain point (all boss battles) in particular the last boss battle. But I'm now playing Chris's campaign and tbh it's just plain clumsy and annoying. Its obvious that its designed to play using the cover system but its so bad that its pointless. And I'm sorry but if you want an action campaign that wants you to blast your way through running and gunning then a persistant shortage of ammo is not scary or intense but just downright frigging annoying!! I haven't played Jake's campaign yet but I dread to think .............
In regards to the guy being mocked @ 4:40: All reviewers are in fact entitled to their opinion, but there is also objectivity in reviewing anything. To ignore that makes you no better than any random asshat on the street that may or may not have even played the game. The review of RE6 (or at least the score given) does not show that there was even an attempt to review it objectively. A 6 would be considered a "bad game." A 4.5 essentially says the game is unplayable which is far from the truth. Gamespot journalists are a bunch of trolls and completely devoid of professionalism.
@Fossil- This review is so shallow, so un-focused that the reviewer doesn't even realize what it takes to do a massive video game like this. If you carefully look at every single small details in a game, you will start to realize that the game shines actually more than you thought. We are so accustomed, so "normalized" with games, we have like a routine going on, that game's are nowadays only small "snacks" , that we just eat fast and put a label on it how it was...We fail to go in true depth in each and every game nowadays.
Talking of rebooting a series... I used to watch this programme called start select. It was great, then someone came up with the crap idea to can it. Now I have to watch 20 video bites and this to fill the void. Time for a start select, horribly mutated action remake?
The fact is he id entitled to his opinion as is everyone else here he didn't like it, I did and i'm able to voice that by rating the game hence why i look at both the reviewers and the user scores to give me a idea what people are thinking. At the end of the day i usually know which games i'm going to buy and which i'm not the reason i look at the reviews is to see how often it agrees with what i'm feeling so when i find games i'm not sure of i know who to trust. This game i disagree, raccoon city review i agreed with 100% next game will see.
@OldKye Money-making review sites are supposed to be professional and objective, not biased and opinionated.
@Villimax The sad truth is the world is biased and opinionated.
Being biased means you made a decisions or opinion based on a prejudice, which means you made a decision or opinion without solid evidence. However a opinion is "a belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge" or a belief that can be held in spite of strong evidence or knowledge.
So stating your opinion and standing too it which everyone is entitled too they are by definition being opinionated and biased which includes you.
@Jestersmiles My favorite part is the part where you came into this comment section deliberately trying to annoy "fanboys" (you, the troll) and you would respond to everything with retarded nonsense until I made fun of your profile, then you took it really personally and got really butthurt and you went from making random garbage comments to making these big baby comments to me to explain to me how butthurt I made you. That is my favorite part because I love to laugh at losers like you who think they are telling me off with their grade school insults.
@Villimax Well look who replied yet again, I got to say I am surprised......LOLOLOLOLOL.
ME mad? please unlike you I don't get mad over strangers on the internet who give a meaningless game a meaningless number , no that you.
But please keep on replying and proving me right and giving the video you hate so much even more views lol.
Sadly everything must come to an end , and so the amusement I gotten from you crying has stop. That does not mean though that you can't keep playing with yourself since you know what you are good at. LOLOLOL
as for you "comeback" what next you going to pull out the 3 year old your rubber I am glue "diss"
Have fun fail troll.
@Jestersmiles Haha getting a little upset are you? What happened to your retarded, happy-go-lucky attitude before? Why project your life onto me? The first sign of a nerdy, trollish loser is someone who calls someone else a troll because they're too stupid to come up with something else.
Must be fun having no life , how is it in your mom basement? Cozy enough ? I see your favorite pass time is to be glued to the comment section waiting to "intelligently" put someone down, awesome!!
Love the fact you try to act all mature and smart but your actions speak other wise.
So a fail troll, nerd, and a loser , the trifecta!! congrats.
@Villimax hehe i like you your funny^^ but please tell me more about how your smart and i'm not and nothing i say matters because of it^^
@OldKye No, fool, you said he's entitled to his opinion, which he is, but not when he's writing a "professional" review. You never said anything mildly intelligent so I don't know where you are getting that from.
@Villimax You are once again arguing with me even though i agree with you both about the game and the review lol. I never said my comment was a negative thing nor am I being wise i'm stating a definition that the 3rd grades in my classes could look up with Google(they are admittedly smart kids hehe^^).
You've just show your out to argue so does the fact that you fell to the "you said something mildly intelligent so if i call you dumb your argument is invalid" i'm sure you like to point out spelling and age as well lol
@OldKye I know you think you are being wise and existential, but you are just making yourself sound that much more ignorant. If someone doesn't like action games, they shouldn't review action games. It's as simple as that.
