Gaming Meme History sparks back up this week with a meme derived from the Triforce and beastie filled world of Hyrule. Remember: it's dangerous to go alone.
Jess!! There is a monster with yellow eyes behind you!!! It's Dangerous to present alone!
25 years later the sword (well technically not the same one but whatever) IS your companion. And she's apparently a master statistician ... and obsessed with telling you that you have low hearts or battery.
Damn! The video doesn't work anymore unless I click on one of the download links.
Anyway, I probably shouldn't be surprised they didn't mention Link's Quest for Ass.
Boy it would really be nice if we could get the older versions of Zelda that would work on the Wii or other new game systems. Can someone get thru to the game companies to make it happen? Pass on the message so it can be done.
@Old-Harwood You can download all of the original Zelda games from the Wii Store.
My favorite meme is from RE 2, Claire to Sherry "It's too dangerous to stay here alone"
im so oblivious to all of these memes :( ...thanks for the history lesson once again GS! :P
@tempertress Oh, its fine, sorry if I sounded kind of rude, I really didn't expect you to actually see the comment xD.
@andrescapo_ Not rude at all! It's alright, I'll take this as a sign that I need to go play through Ocarina of Time again =P

Old man: " 'Tis dangerous to go alone!"
Link: "Oh! So you're coming with m-"
Old man: "Here, take this. *hands him a sword*"
Link: "*sour face* Oh. Hmm...*takes it and walks away*"
Old man: "*chuckles with a smug grin* Dumbass."
Haha! Love the picture of Captain Kirk offering a Red Shirt as a defense item. So true.
I had no idea about this game or 'memes' but good stuff, except for the annoying music near the end.
Wow, bringing us back to this game is a slap in the face to the garbage their trying to push these days, you'd think they were trying to start a fan war...
My favourite meme: "I'm commander Shepard and this is my favourite *insert name here* on the citadel"
Also Marauder Shield was funny.
@ilantis I love that one too, I considered using it but there isn't a whole lot more to it than the hilarious scenes themselves =]
- Jess
@ilantis The best part was claiming that multiple businesses were Shepard's favorite. So dodgy...but I loved doing that.
i expected proper journalism and not some meme montage. knowyourmeme team has made a way better video.

@Gelugon_baat I dont own GameSpot sure but "it is my" favourite site. That said, you my friend are an annoyance. :D
@kiramasaki seeing how its almost always presented in text form this could be true. nowadays we have arrows to the knees, and X to JASON... and its all voiced and more widely broadcasted as memes. old school stuff had to have been experienced as it was more of an inside joke... if youve been around long around there were plenty of these that probably passed you by without notice.
@Harrydapro You'll be seeing more of it, yes, as to whether it'll be regular we're going to try for every couple of weeks give or take.
- Jess
@digi_matrix We're working on getting a show page set up for the series, but you can find the rest by searching 'Gaming Meme' on GameSpot. There's a whole bunch!
it isn't implying the sword is a companion. the old man is stating a fact. its dangerous to go alone. because of that, take the sword with you.
@jakek Thank you. I couldn't understand what the joke here was. I would think it obvious. He's saying that if you're alone, it's dangerous. To make it less dangerous you should take the sword. Why do people see it the other way around?
