Watch the highlights from the first episode of our new daily live show, Random Encounter. Danny and Martin play Giants: Citizen Kabuto, a PC classic from the year 2000.
Wow... I Thought this game was so much better, I actually thought I had missed so much, how wrong I was, whew! This game needs a High Definition Texture Mod, an AI Mod, an effects Mod, a gameplay Mod, and maybe it will get to todays standards, barely...
6:35 actually, Volgograd (former Stalingrad) is not that far north and has a fairly moderate climate (compared to many other large Russian cities, that is).
Too bad they didn't cover the fact there was base building for defense along with turrets and also a pub so the guys could have a cold one every now and then. The jet packs were so cool.
Isn't that the voice of Rob Paulsen (as Akmed/Timmy)? You know, the guy that voiced Yacco Warner in the Animaniacs (remember "Nations of the World") and numerous other cartoon characters and plenty of game voices as well (Google him, you won't regret it).
@Meta-Gnostic I think I read somewhere that they are glamorizing bullets because Meta-Gnostic has a Mangina
Great show ! Danny is doing a great job with this retro injection. Ok, so what about a DREAMWEB ?? That one has a great storyline ... or maybe UNIVERSE with Matrixlike screenplay. Also, check PHANTASMAGORIA which has an outstanding audio/visual experience.
Big salute for all of retro fans ...
I miss when action games like this were colorful and wild and weren't afraid to get a little weird and goofy. It's such a bland and boring palette of gray, brown and "gritty realism" now. Armed and Dangerous was one of my favorite games back in the day and it still holds up for me.
Really like this series. I grew up playing PC games in the 90s. So these videos bring back a lot of good memories. How about Sin? I bet that game has NOT aged well at all.
Dang Gamspot UK does a spectacular job again; I suggest playing: Star Parodier [1992].

Ha! Intriguing show you've got here. I don't know how long the livestream was, but will the edited version here avg in the 15-30 minute range? If so, you might see me tune in each time, as it won't eat into my time too much, what with all the other Internet things I feel compelled to watch or listen to.
Will the show, as the name might suggest, showcase some older or perhaps lesser known games as opposed to mainstream titles that have coverage out the ass? Just a guess, but from the one hint I (think) I heard you (Danny) say in your 24 hour childs play marathon, I got a possible impression that Secret Code would focus more on indie titles & dev interview corraboration or something. Then, this show would contain the wacky 'we play a weird obscure game' part. If I got it even somewhat right, I'm sold.
Too many titles out there for me to suggest for future episodes, but the first that comes to mind is Planescape Torment. It's different & funny enough to maybe keep people interested.
Bought this when it came out. Loved the quirks and British humor. Hated that in the US they censored the blue boobies. Violence good, boobies bad.
Martin's been here for a week and he's already writing better articles than Makuch.
