DRM again... <sigh> I felt like a fool for getting D3 at midnight to get home after install and stare at an error at 1:30am...servers full. Fool me once...

E3 2012: Build your own city and watch it rise in SimCity.
Kind of looks like SimCity 4 with curved roads. This could have been such a cool game if it gave us modern, real-life challenges like oil spills, wars, energy shortages, political unrest, climate crisis, etc. Instead we get meteors, monsters and UFOs. Plus there is an online requirement, and no city saves. I've owned every SimCity ever made, but I will probably pass on this one.
Why is everyone so hung on simcity needing to look realistic? It has never been the direction of the series. Cartoon graphics with a realistic simulation engine is the heart of simcity, and I think this will be the true sequel to simcity 4. Can't wait!
This game is going to fail. They have removed many loved features form Simcity 4 and scaled cities down a lot. Simcity is a legacy. Fans expect to have their game experience enriched. This game begins too look like another spin-off. They don't even have the balls to call it simcity 5. Also, it has been proven that forced online play always fails(unless its a shooter or rpg).
Here is a list of things you can forget.
God mode - No more terraforming
No "Cities" - Maps have been scaled back to about 1/4 of big sized maps in sc4
No control over your regions - You cant build in the region around your city any more.
Forced internet connection - Don't get me started
And it has been compared to this many times but I'll do it again. Its basically farmville.
I like the lens tilt effect which makes the world look like a miniature, but graphically it doesn't look that good.
Loved SimCity 4 but....Am I going to see Roadside Advertising Signs everywhere (like Cities XL) when i go to street level? So far they ain't telling you much about the real game play so i'm guessing this will be grab the money and run. This game looks like they bought the rights to CitiesXL and made adjustments and called it SimCity2013
I cant 'wait. I do think the graphics look a bit tooney, but I suppose they want to keep it accessible, like The Sims.
Want so much right now.....
I hope they don't ruin it with these side quests and constant internet connection rubbish.
Cant wait still unsure about the resources thing I mean what happens when you run out of every resource can you not just trade between cities you have built don't want another player strong arming me over some coal or something
I'm excited for this game and hoping EA has learned from the stupid Spore blunder to stick with CD keys or other easy to use DRM.
Been waiting for this game for years and years. Still looks a little Mickey Mouse to me. I wasn't so impressed at first, but about half way through this video I pretty much knew I'd be buying this game, whether I like it or not. It's been too long. Diagonal roads have been a long time coming. I just hope it's not another ridiculous toddler's sandbox of a game like SimCity Societies was. You don't have to dumb down a game to give it mass appeal, Maxis. Please remember that this time.
refreshing to see a classic like this coming back... cant wait to pull my hair out from trying to figure out how to hold the city budget :)
I admit it. One thing EA is good at is first impressions.
Whether this game will be good or suck, however, remains to be determined in the future.
omg i want this it looks cool I loved the old sim cities where you like build a massive city and then just activate every disaster and watch the city get destroyed it was utter fun back then, ah the good old day's.
I like the tilt shift camera when zoomed in. Makes it seem like you're 8 again and putting your head down to the level of your train set imagining it were a real world. I miss that feeling.
