Skylanders giants booster pack

    Hi all I need help.
    I have bought the sky landers spyro adventures for the 3ds for Christmas for my grandson.
    My wife has bought the sky landers giants booster pack as well.
    Reading the info, am I right in thinking he will be able to play both.
    My daughter has said that a toys r us rep has told her that the booster pack is an add-on for the giants and you need the giants game to play the booster pack.
    I am well confused about it all now Please set me straight someone please.
