SOCOM: Special Forces Question

How to Unlock Multiplayer Characters?

There are like 3 or 4 grayed out characters for each side, Seals and Insurgents, and I was wondering if anybody knows how to unlock them. Do you have to beat the campaign on higher difficulties like the previous Socoms' or is there something else you have to do? Thanks in advance to whoever accurately answers this for me!
Accepted Answer
Some of them are unlocked for completing Single Player, Custom, and Co-op missions. The others will unlock as your online Rank increases.
