SOCOM: Special Forces User Review

- The Bottom Line:
- "Innovative"
I'm not a huge fan of console shooters mainly because of the input controls but this game supports the PS3 Move Sharp Shooter, so I had to check it out. The learning curve is definitely steep but once you get a hang of the Sharp Shooter I found it very innovative, immersive, and challenging.
The game itself seems pretty run of the mill for a shooter. You play one, you basically play them all. I can definitely understand why people expected more. I myself never played a Socom title before so I am a blank slate. But keep in mind, I don't play console shooters much so there you go. However, I found this game to have exceptional production value and a quality feel to it. Graphics and sound were way better than I expected.
Hopefully more titles like this will be supported. The idea is to immerse oneself into the game environment and this is definitely a giant step in that direction. The PS3 Sharp Shooter itself isn't perfect but that is expected with new technology that isn't the mainstream. I myself look past this and see it's perfected future potential. Between this and 3D... You've got a real winner.
I doubt I would have even tried this game if it didn't support the PS3 Move Sharp Shooter. I'm glad I did.

SOCOM 4 is the weakest entry in the SOCOM franchise.

Frustrations aside, "SOCOM 4" is an intense and immensely satisfying tactical venture.

SOCOM: Special Forces has tedious AI, bland level design and mission structure, but has great audio design and co-op.
