SOCOM Confrontation: How do I use the night vision goggles?

NOTE: I have the downloaded version, so I don't have the manual.

Every time I play in a level that is at night, almost all of the level is impossible to see without night vision goggles. My question is do you have to put the night vision goggles on your person to use them...and how do you even turn on the night vision goggles?

1.No, you don't have to put them on to use them.
2.Just hold the down button
3.The goggles suck, adjust yourbrightness instead

    Also note that the NVGs force you into over the shoulder view, instead of the classic view.
