Why wont the game load at the beginning?

I just got sa2 on a cd-rom given to me by my uncle and i put it in the dreamcast system and after it shows the sega logo and then the sonic team logo nothing happens afterwards, the screen is just black. is it still loading? or does it just break afterwards? all the other games i have for the dreamcast are all on cd-roms and all of the other ones work just fine, its just this one that wont work. does anyone know how to fix this? the disc has no scratches on it whatsoever, however, on one edge there is this little marking on it. is thats what causing it? like i said how can this get fixed?

If by cd-rom you mean a CD-R or CD-RW then your uncle either burned the ROM wrong or the ROM was corrupt. If you're talking about an official Dreamcast disk with the characters and the logo printed on the disk on a blue background then you just have a defective disk. In either case, there's nothing you can do to the disk that you have to fix it.

If some of the label is scratched, then its gone for good.
