Sonic Generations is a celebration of the little blue hedgehog's various incarnations down the years. Guy and Jane got their hands on a nearly complete build so they can let you know how it plays.
@RubenZX sure, thats asuming that I own one. which I don't. that (as I stated in my comment) that I care about more levels.
@707107 if you think about since the console and 3ds versions are different and IF you want both you pretty much have twice the amount of acts
Lets see... 9 zones 2 acts thats 18 total acts. Probably a short game. AND I DON'T CARE WOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so excited for this game. I was born around Dreamcast time, yet I love the classics also. I personally like them equally though. Since this game has been revealed to have a hard mode, I think I'll play that. I hope it replicates the classics' difficulty. I think I'll play some Unleashed now, as it is my favorite. However, I think the werehog is fun, but not really necessary and I see why people dislike it.
I like both classic and modern sonic but I grew up with modern sonic since I was born in 1998 where a year later, Sonic Adventure 1 was released. I'm more experienced in modern sonic than classic sonic which probably makes modern sonic easy for me and bit more challenged with classic sonic.
@domokun00 Each zone has Act 1, which is Retro Sonic's level and Act 2, which is Modern Sonic's level. Each Act has 5 extra missions.
Awesome. Can't wait to give this a go. This might be the first Sonic game I buy since Sonic Adventure...For some reason that makes me feel old. Ha ha! I hope that there will be a Metal Sonic to fight/race against!
@itchyflop Yes you can still go underwater in Chemical Plant Zone. There are some gameplay videos of Chemical Plant Zone. Here is a link to a classic and modern gameplay of Chemical Plant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KEuYajpEO4
@burgeg Ah, that made sense. I just friggin hate that here in Brazil there's not a single gaming event. I so wanted to play the demo of SG.... But now i got it, and it's true, that level is quite easy... I can't recall a single "green hill" that was hard. lol
you know i always slate the "re release of sonic" on every platform but this one does compile the best of all on every console, nice work by sega.
Nice.. Green Hill, Chemical Plant, Sky Sanctuary, Death Egg (Robot?), Speed Highway, City Escape all together!
Best Sonic game ever? Or Best Sonic game ever? The graphics are just beautiful, and looks like a heck of a lot of fun.
is it just me or are the graphics for this game just damn ugly? the 2.5D thing looks cool but when i played the demo maybe 1 month ago it seemed to me that the visuals and the speed of the game just didnt fit
This Sonic actually looks like oldschool fun. I might actually get it for old times sake :P Now I am curious, shouldn't the guy who is trying to show the gameplay have played the game before, he looks like he picked it up for the first time, even worse -.-'
ugh, this game looks way to easy, the challenging level is to far in, plus it didn't look challenging at all (on the 3D version the only obstacles while he was boarding were the two robots at the end, the cars and lamp posts just flew away when he hit them, and on the 2D version when the truck catches up to him it just hits him once then drives off letting him get more coins before any other encounter.). The "2.5D" looks way to cluttered and confusing, what I loved about the original sonic was it was simple but still really challenging.
Sonic had grind railing back in 2001 with Sonic Adventure 2. Way before Ratchet and Clank was spinning in your PS2.
Oh man this looks pretty cool! It might just be the first Sonic game I have brought since Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast.
Use the boast button, this kinda reminds of how IGN would play a sonic game....hold it...Nice interview tho..
The game looks like a lot of fun, looking forward to buying it next month. And the guy playing it? He could do with doing a lot better, maybe he should have let her play it.
@Raxyman - Oh I'm not saying some Sonic games aren't hard. Unleashed could be quite brutal at times. Generations however is not. I played Green Hill and City Escape at the Eurogamer Expo. It really isn't hard. Obviously the game will be really hard in terms of S ranking levels just like previous Sonic games, and I'm sure the later levels will provide some challenge. The levels Guy was talking about however, are not hard. I was just saying so with the intent of being as non insulting as possible, unlike whoever said he was amazingly crap.
