Sonic Unleashed is the second Sonic game to come out on the Xbox360. The game is divided into two different kinds of levels. Daytime levels and nighttime levels. The daytime levels are all about speed. And man, is it fast. The sense of speed is really well done and the levels are challenging (if not too challenging sometimes! *cough*the quick time events on the 2nd desert level *cough*).
Now for the bad part. The nighttime levels. In these, you play as the 'Wherehog' smashing up enemis and solving some quite simple puzzles. The first time I played one of these I thought to myself 'Well, this isn't too bad'. But boy, did I grow tired of them. In the these levels, it's all about hack & slash. The fighting itself isn't too bad. There's a fair amount of different combos, but the enemies and platforming are most of the time either frustrating or extremely tedious. And this is where the game falls flat. The nighttime levels are too long compared to the daytime levels and there are way too many of them. The Sonic stages are awesome, the Wherehog levels, not so much.
The Graphics and sound is pretty well done. While there is a few minor problems with the frame rate it doesn't really ruin the experience. The music is so-so. Some of the tracks like the main theme is pretty epic and the music in the china levels is sweet and catchy.
I didn't really enjoy the nighttime levels but the platforming levels with Sonic where a blast.
Not a bad game at all!
