Why does Sega keep having the hope to make the next big thing with their lean, mean, supersonic machine, but always end up as lousy disappointments expected in the bargain bin? If you'd played the demo, Sonic Unleashed would've been the knight of awesomeness. But it's become the bishop of epic failure in the series. It tricked me, and if you don't do your research, it'll trick you too. All you do is this routine: Stand around, pick up rings and Sun/Moon coins of possible, beat up bad guys, REPEAT. Not only is this game a huge success in pulling you into his droning world, but the mechanics are jacked up as well. The only part I liked about this game, excluding that godlike demo, was Chip, Sonic's little friend. Things drag by WAY more slowly at night, when you turn into a werehog. Not only do the punishing stakes rise then, but it's more standing around than you'd expect. Townsfolk are only helpful as downright brain drains, and there's barely nothing to accomplish in-game, as the achievements are FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE!!! I'd rather waste my money on an old Xbox and hitch Shadow the Hedgehog--SHADOW THE HEDGEHOG!!!--than play another round of this BS again. Or, no. Wait, I can do worse. I'd rather get SONIC FREE RIDERS FOR MY KINECT!!! And get this--it's still for that stupid 10-year old PS2!!! Don't believe the hype. If you have a bad case of mental retardation, you can check the bargain bin for that icky brain drain that says those two devilish words on it: "Sonic Unleashed."
There are more effective and efficient ways to spend $20, and actually believe it's worth the pay. Sonic Unleashed must be destroyed immediately. The next ET, for crying out loud. Maybe the Wii version is worth the cold hard cash, but maybe next time (after all those failures of Free Riders, and 4 Episode 1 and all that) Sega can actually realize how much they're getting hurt financially by money-wasting failure after money-wasting failure. My final words: Don't get this game. Keep your $20. Be proud to play good games. Like me.
And if there's one reason I enjoy that name, it's the achievement from Sonic & Sega Racing.
(Score: 3.0/10 = bad)
