Spec Ops: The Line User Review
You owe it to yourself to spend 7 or so hours to play this game...

- Difficulty:
- Just Right
- Time Spent:
- 10 Hours or Less
- The Bottom Line:
- "Worth playing"
Been awhile since I have written a review - but this is a game which i think people should experience....
(btw - this is only a campaign review - i didn't play multi-player)
Negatives - ok - it is a bit short and does start off quite simple - but by the half way mark things are in full swing.
- It does use pretty simple gameplay mechanics (ie: very GoW like) - and the cover mechanic can be a bit dodgy at times.....
- It does have a pretty standard HUD and there isn't a huge variety of guns....
Positives - I thought it looked great....Dubi is rendered really well and there is great attention to detail - as you progress through the game the main characters and surroundings deteriorate in line with the story......
- Voice acting and sound is pretty good - I didn't even mind the use of 60's music in different parts of the game....
The Story - well - there has been a bit written about it - it is based on a novel (similar to Apocalypse Now).......and it has that 'wow' factor that Bioshock had when you first played it through........without giving away spoilers - it makes you want to play to the end and drives you forward (even though it is a linear path).....during the game there will be some disturbing moments that make any CoD game seem so lightweight.....
Anyway - I believe if you like shooters and /or war games then I can definitely recommend this game - it may be fairly easy for people who play alot of them - but I was gripped by the way the story unfolded (I even found some parts hard to play)....
You owe it to yourself to spend 7 or so hours of your time to play this game......

On first glance it seems like it is all been done before, but the psychological story gives it the unique selling point

Can this ambitious, story driven shooter bring substance to an over saturated shooter market?
