Split/Second: Velocity User Review
Perhaps one of the worst driving games I've played in a long time. But its one of those games...love or hate.

- The Bottom Line:
- "All flash, no substance"
Honestly, I just hate this game. Too me, its boring, broken and just a terrible driving experience and seems like it desperately wants to be a Burn Out clone but fails. Like with the classification, all flash and no substance really sums this game up ~ sure the graphics and intensity are all there, but the game itself really is sub-par to say the least.
Physics...hah what physics..the cars handle poorly and the A.I opponents are all master drivers who not only go faster than you, are far tougher (on-rails) and know exactly when to use the scenery to destroy your car. The controls are not responsive enough either, most of the time the race outcome is more likely a result of pure luck rather than skill.
The latter part of the on-rails opponents is what really annoys me, there isn't really any AI at all, you can't slam into an opponent or force them off the road or into obstacles without first completely screwing yourself over, consider the AI just bricks on wheels which can only be destroyed with this games 'gimmicks' and that's most of the problems this game has, there really isn't much strategy at all, just drift around the course and occasionally press a button and hope it destroys the opponent in front of you long enough before he/she passes you again, rinse and repeat until you either win or loss the race.
