I've seen a lot of questioning on how to get to the true ending, or even just to get to other missions outside of the easy ones, and I thought this would help.

*Note*: All hard routes and warps allow you to go to the mission that the easy route leads to, you are not required to go to the mission the hard routes and warps lead you to. Easy routes have only one choice.

    -----
    Mission 1
    -----

    Corneria

Hard route: Save Falco, fly underneath all of the stone arches on the lake. Allows you to go to Sector Y.

Easy route: Don't save Falco, don't fly through the arches. Leads only to Meteo.

    -----
    Mission 2
    -----

    Meteo

Warp: Near the end of the level there are small multicolored rings to fly through that cause you to speed up and start spinning. Fly through all of them and you'll enter a new part of the level. Allows you to go to Katina.

Easy route: Don't fly through the rings, just play through the level normally. Leads only to Fichina.

    Sector Y

Hard route: Get a score of 100 hits or more. Allows you to go to Aquas.

Easy route: Get a score of 99 hits or less. Leads only to Katina.

    -----
    Mission 3
    -----

    Fichina

Hard route: Defeat Star Wolf before time runs out. Allows you to go to Solar.

Easy route: Fail to defeat Star Wolf before time runs out. Leads only to Sector X.

    Katina

Hard route: Destroy Saucerer's core before time runs out. Allows you to go to Solar.

Easy route: Fail to destroy Saucerer's core before time runs out. Leads only to Sector X.

    Aquas

Aquas only has one route. Always leads to Zonness.

    -----
    Mission 4
    -----

    Sector X

Warp: Partway through the level, take the left side at the fork. You'll see large rectangular panels that darken in color when shot at. If shot at enough, they will open and you can fly through them. Fly through all of them and you'll go to a new area. Allows you to go to Sector Z.

Hard route: Defeat Spyborg before Slippy attempts to intervene. Allows you to go to Macbeth.

Easy route: Take long enough on Spyborg for Slippy to attempt to intervene and get slapped down to Titania. Leads only to Titania.
*Note*: You cannot choose to go to Sector Z if you do the Hard route, and you cannot choose to go to Macbeth if you do the Warp. In both cases, you can choose Titania.

    Solar

Solar only has one route. Always leads to Macbeth.

    Zonness

Hard route: Destroy all of the searchlights without being spotted by a single one. Allows you to go to Sector Z.

Easy route: Get spotted by any searchlight. Leads only to Macbeth.

    -----
    Mission 5
    -----

    Titania

Titania only has one route. Always leads to Bolse.

    Macbeth

Hard route: Late in the level Peppy will tell you to shoot switches. Shoot all eight switches and then shoot the final switcher. Allows you to go to Area 6.

Easy route: Miss any switch (including the final switcher) and fight the boss normally. Leads only to Bolse.

    Sector Z

Hard route: Destroy all of the Copperhead missiles before they reach the Great Fox. Allows you to go to Area 6.

Easy route: Allow any Copperhead missile to hit the Great Fox. Leads only to Bolse.

    -----
    Mission 6
    -----

    Bolse

Bolse only has one route. Always leads to the easy path Venom (also known as Venom 1).

    Area 6

Area 6 only has one route. Always leads to the hard path Venom (also known as Venom 2).

    -----
    Mission 7
    -----

*Note*: Though Venom appears as a single planet on the map and has only one medal in the Main Game, it is actually two different missions depending on where you came from.

    Venom 1

Leads to the fake ending. Does not allow you to face the true final boss and see the true ending.

    Venom 2

Leads to the true ending. Allows you to face the true final boss and see the true ending.

Seems like you should consider redoing this with a note on how to get the medals.

    Yeah, I've thought about it.

Not really sure how one would go about getting something unstickied though.

I think you'd just be better off making a separate sticky on medal strategy. Generally people who are playing this game the first time are more interested in getting to every stage and exploring every route, it's only later they try for all medals.

    Thats just how I rule

^This....I actually wanted to do Zoness all the way through without getting spotted by the lights the first time around...after that I went for the medal.

This topic is very helpful. I love how I can suspend the game, look up the secret route, then go right back to playing again.

Question: Is it necessary to find all the secret routes or is just playing every level enough?

Macbeth is actually one of my favorite planets of the game, so even though I shot all the searchlights on Zoness on my first run I always choose to skip Sector Z for Macbeth and then do the hard route from there.

Thanks, I'll probably need this. Just got the game two days ago, "finished" it today and realized I found 0 of the hard routes haha.
