Star Trek Online Official Trailer 1

IT'S ABOUT TIME they've been hyping ST:O for YEARS I've heard both good and bad the good being a really deep class based level system not unlike Knights of the Old Rebublic. The bad your pretty much stuck as a human on a Federation vessel for a large chunk of the game and if you want to play as Klingons or Romulans you've got to unlock them. Borg are also supposedly available as player race but not only do you have unlock them they're only playable in the online campaign. So that brings the total to three races including two that you don't get to play until you've finished almost a third of the game. I don't expect every race in the Star Trek Universe to be playable in one game but I WANT MORE THAN THREE DAMN IT .

well the trailer does bad for the graphics if they are better. Even freelancer looks better than this.

@xVash7x idk what you've been smoking but Star Wars has made nearly twice as much money as Star Trek. And I hate Star Wars but really know the facts before you speak. @everyone else Sadly I think this game is going to be a failure, if the wizards at Cryptic could have gotten it released this year I think it would have done a lot better a release next year. This is because you have the WoW expansion, and that Star Wars game that is an MMO. So I just don't see this game doing well. Cryptic blows another great chance to make a great MMO from a great franchise because they can't get their product out in a reasonable amount of time.

Sry but Star Trek is SOOOO much better than star wars. This game is gonna rock!

im relativley hopful for this one the only thing visually i can take away from it is i personally cant stand the line that trails your engine as you move kinda takes away from it would be better if the engines just got brighter as you increase throttle

I think the game does look pretty good but I hear rumours of $300 lifetime subscription charges. That is a total rip-off if you ask me. I'll probably still get the game as I'm a big Star Trek fan and the last decent game I was aware of was Bridge Commander which is considered to be a collectors item these days. The only issue I have with this new game is how you start as a captain. It would have been much better if you start as an ensign and progressively rank up to the level of captain and even beyond (admiral?)

I'm surprisingly cool about this game. I have no clue what genre it is or how it's supposed to play. What can you compare it to? EVE? Anarchy Online? Neither? Both? If they're only targetting Trekkies then they're gonna loose a lot of money I think. If they're targetting gamers they better start releasing some worthwhile info soon, because the Star Trek IP isn't Warcraft or Diablo where people will buy because of it's name. Need more input!

I love Star Trek but turning it into a MMO may be a very bad idea. Hope I am wrong. + video lacks any real info on the game. Guess will just wait and see

I personally can't wait for this game. I hope it won't be as much of a letdown as Star Trek: Legacy, the last decent Trek game I played was Bridge Commander and it's ancient so I don't really play it anymore as the graphics look terrible. I thought the graphics on Star Trek Online aren't that bad.

ok so ill ask the million dollar question. do we pay for this like an mmo or does live cover it?

is it just me but the graphics on everything apart from the ships suck big time id expect to see sumthing that looks like this from maybe 5 years back but not from a brand new game

Champions Online, also made by Cryptic, is currently very, very, VERY poorly optimized... the graphics in Star Trek look better than those in Champions and this worries me because my machine can run Crysis relatively well yet Champions was downright unplayable. I'm worried about STO being just as bad or worse.

I personally cannot wait for this game, even if the graphics look a bit cheesy as of now it still looks as if it'll be really fun to play

Looks like Armada 2 all modded up. Sharp and cheesy, like the cheddah. It could be the lighting... the feed isn't that great either.

looks ok, but i worry that after cryptic took over after the first team got dropped, the game has changed too much... but the ship invasion looks kinda cool, but it seems like another turn based battle with no direct control, that kinda sucks, imo...

The graphics are fine for an mmo. if the graphics were too complicated it would lag forever. And the combat will probably be rpg style turn and stats based combat, not shooter. the ship combat looks awesome. Im just hoping the exploritory side is massive.

Everyone complaining about the graphics doesn?t even deserve to be here. The graphics are fine. Maybe they aren't top notch, but they are completely acceptable and certainly not worth whining over. Gameplay is what matters. If all you care about it pretty lights just go watch a Michael Bay movie and quit your whining.

I've been following STO for a long time now and I have to say that this trailer is not what I was hoping to see. I certainly hope that the graphics improve before launch, that the character fighting is not just what we saw here, which was kinda boring, and I wish that they show us some kind of GUI for the space battles which seem fine, but for a feeling in my gut warning me to keep expectations low.

If I get to be captain of my own ship and invite people onboard to control turrets or just chill out in space (like in Star Wars Galaxies), then its a buy!

Man, I hope they don't mess this one up. Star Trek is so great, people are going to have some high expectations. To be honest this trailer totally turned me off. Even the announcer didn't sound right. The game looks off, way too outdated... The ship battles look really lame. I hope this isn't the best they have to offer!

Graphics look weak when running around on planets. Also since this is MMO, I'll pass if they charge monthly. As much as I like the shows, I don't see myself buying the game till I see more and graphics are improved.

So can you only play as the Federation? I hpe not. I would love to play as the romulans or klingons.

it looks greater i haven't played a good star trek since star trek invasion for the ps1 that was a great game. but i hope this star trek game let you go in warp on my own. instead of the program do it for you i also hope you can beam down on planets. i also hope it more than one player on one console's.

I want this game to work so bad but this is going to be a tough one to pull off.

Star Trek + Online + Big Battles = Awesome time. I don't care if the graphics are from the 1980s, there has never been a game like this for Trekkie fans, it'll be so good unless they really drop the ball. Like forget to add phasers, or make the Borg sound swedish lol.

Gladestone1 i agree, people put way to much importance on graphics. I mean sure it is nice to have really good graphics but even if a games graphics arnt the best shouldnt it be the feel and the gameplay that count. The story and voice acting are some really major factores. A game can have beautiful graphics and play really bad or it can have ok graphics and be one of the best games. Graphics arnt the only thing to look for in a game.

@Crabs4sale : you know there have been MMOs on consoles before ? Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast was the first I think...Final Fantasy XI on PS2 and X-Box 360 is also a MMO. There is probably a couple more...

So, if this is on the Xbox 360, does that mean it will be the first MMORPG on a home console? I'd get that regardless of the quality, I've been waiting so long for one of those.

If I just get to walk around, explore the Enterprise, and use the holodeck I'll be excited.

Don't know how many people played Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, but that game had the best tactical ship-to-ship combat ever crated, maybe if they do it similary here, this game would be great.

Hate when people think only about graphics..Who cares about graphics..If its got stats an exploration an every thing else..This will suck me in..If this is like every other mmorpg of late..Than im not interested..People wake up graphics are not every thing...Game looks like its going to be interesting..
