Learn more about the Sith inquisitor class in Star Wars: The Old Republic.
@Ghosthunter54 Um it was u that insulted me to begin with. check your own posts. Yes there is a difference between what system specs you play on. High end PC's are able to handle farther draw distance, higher Rez, Smoother shadows and higher textures. Video previews are never enough to determine graphics. MMO's and most games do Release High Texture packs in final release for the most part. Where the hell do you get your info? LOTRO was a classic example on an MMO that does this. Usually during Beta testing they release a smaller pack in order to work on most PC's. It's just a testing phase there not worrying about what it looks like on someone's high end machine. They just want it to work on most. Since that in the general public they are selling to. I am flaming you? You are the one that responded to my posts. You never had to respond to me. Just read and move on, yet you keep retorting and responding to my posts. Take heed to your own advice.
@sammoth Stop trying to flame at me. I'm not interested in trading insults with you. And stop liking your own posts, it's embarrassing. No, I haven't played Rift or Aion on a high end machine. But if a game is not designed to take advantage of a high end machine (as MMO's are not) there is little difference in what type of computer you play it on. I'm not impressed that you beta tested it, if you even did. Video previews are good enough for determining graphics. And obviously I did take time before posting since I went an examined your claims of good graphics on these other two games, which I have determined to be false. I'm aware of what you said about releasing high texture packs. MMO's don't do this. Even if they did it still wouldn't be nearly equivalent of a non-MMO game for graphics. Why would this one?
@Ghosthunter54 Don't even go there with intelligent things to say because for one. You never played Rift or Aion on a high end machine. So you don't know what you are talking about. Nice try with the insult seeming it shows your lack of knowledge on the subject. Is that the best you got a retort. Give me a break. Anyone who plays the Rift or Aion can tell you the graphics are some of the best ATM for MMO's. LOTRO uses DX11 something that KOTOR is not using. "Have you beta tested it?" I don't think so. I have and so have some of my friends. The point of the posts where to point out that the Graphics on KOTOR are not up to par with some of the other MMO's out today "Not WOW". Maybe if you took sometime before posting anything. I Said " I hope they release higher texture packs with release and that would improve the graphics a ton.
@sammoth I don't play WoW. My post only talked about MMO's not needing great graphics. I don't know how you looked at that and could accurately tell if I'm a "fanboy" of Star Wars and Bioware. Stop using tag lines as a substitute for intelligent things to say. Anyway, I looked at some screenshots of Rift and Aion, as you suggested, and am completely confused. You actually call those good graphics? Seriously? In typical MMO fashion, the graphics are not very good.
I'm not even worrying about the graphics, it's those animations that are sooo 5 years ago.
Still showing off horrible animations bioware?? Gonna have to step it up! Lets smooth it out before it comes out. As for the graphics I dont think they are that bad, but those animations and effects are very...well kotor 2, which was bad for its time as well
Please don't give me Graphics don't make a game. We spend day in day out looking for better GPU's and Tech moves rapidly. Every game is judge on Graphic 1st and gameplay next. Just the way things are. It's and opinion and you don't have to agree with it but, have a right to our opinions as well.
@Ghosthunter54 MMO's dont have good graphics ? Orrly ? Why not take a step away from WOW for a minute and look at games like. Rift, Aion ad a few others. I swear it's fanboys on these sites that defend this game just cause it's Bioware and Starwars. Yes it does look bad ATM. It has to be a bit dumb down graphics wise because of the mainstream of people they are going to market it to. Point was the graphics atm don't look that great but, they could add higher Texture for PC's that can handle it.
I agree with Loadrh.. I dont think anything can touch WoW for awhile, but if anything has the branding, funding or interest to make some WoW vets say "hey... let's check this out.. " its Bioware and KOTOR. With proper balance (which takes years for an MMO), intuitive GUI, great story, characters we bond/care about and battle system that is fresh, this may take the crown. WoW is a behemoth, been around for years, but every... empire... falls.
I don't think you all understand. This is Bioware. They make amazing games. They have the funding through EA to produce an great game that will last. Do I think its a WOW killer? No, Do I think it will compete on a strong level? Yes. For those that think this game will Bomb, please state your reasoning. So we can discuss.
@DarthVeng_basic Don't worry. I'm just stating my opinion is all. Isn't that what you were talking about. :P
@Entropy730 They said that about Star Wars Galaxies, too. Eight years later, it's still a terrible game, but it isn't shut down. TOR, at least in my beta experience, is a far more engaging "Star Wars" experience than current SWG (but not pre-NGE), rail shooter and all. It's roleplaying (especially with the conversation wheel) aspects are also a cut above many of the current gen's top contenders, too. Will it topple WoW? Probably not. Will it wake up the mindless zombies to a new alternative? Sure.
I have more of a feeling lately that this game is going to bomb... At first I was so excited for this game, but now it's either going to suck or be a lot of fun. Either way it's going to cater to the hardcore Star Wars fans so it will survive a few years at the very least before shutting it down
I'm going to whine about DarthVeng and Bhemont talking about whining, complaining, and opinions
@Bhemont : Yes, trash talking is immature. About any game or console. That's not what I am talking about. You say you don't care about peoples opinion, then what is the point in posting in the first place? Should others care about your opinion and only yours? No. Other people have opinions the same as you. It says "Comments", meaning not a one sided dictatorship. No one is coming here out of "fear" of anything, its quite simple. Not everyone likes what they see in SWTOR, and I am one of them. They leave comments expressing so the same as people who like everything they see. Many people are only stating their opinion, the same as you have done, and that is not crying, whining, or complaining.
@DarthVeng_basic You say it is immature to call it crying, I say it is immature to trash talk a game only because it's advancing more anticipation then their current MMO. I don't care about people's opinion, read my reply, people are only coming here out of fear, nothing else, I've had discussions like this before on other boards and I always get the same answer, no this sucks, X or Y MMO is going to be so great zomgsors... That's what makes me frustrated, I don't go there and trash-talk their games, like hell, I don't even care about any other MMO's.
@cynicalynx earning your name! full voice acting for all quests, AND you can be a Jedi.... hopefully will be the first game that can drag me away from WoW for longer than a few days!
@Bhemont : Stating an opinion on the subject is not crying. It's not whining. Its not complaining. When people say that it is, they sound extremely immature and seem to not be able to handle the fact that not everyone approves. Everything should have pro and con posts. If people are only supposed to post comments in favor of the subject, that would be censorship and wouldn't show the full picture of opinions. It would be inaccurate, and unfair. So, grow up and deal with it folks, not everyone is jumping for joy about the graphics on TOR.
@Aztook, the Sith Inquisitor will be able to branch out in two very different directions, the Sith Sorcerer which focuses mainly on lightning attacks or heals. Or the Sith Assasin which wields a double-bladed lightsaber and can either play as a "evasion tank" or sneaky sneaky stabby stabby in the back type.
SI is awesome, I just hope (and my fears we'r taken away after that last bit) that its not all lightening :P
Woot! Definitely going to be a sith inquisitor, but I already knew that before watching this video ha ha.
@DarthVeng_basic Indeed, each to his own I guess, but it's still sort of crying imo. I mean, I've NEVER gone to another gaming board and complained about bad graphics, or how this or that game will fail, if I'd think it would, I wouldn't even bother with going there... :p So most of the people that do complain, are either trolls, or biased because they are hoping that the MMO they are currently following will be more successful, it has absolutely nothing to do with the graphics in this game, in fact the details in SW:TOR are amazing when compared with others, the only thing that stands out is the stylized realism they are going for, which is a tad bit cartoon'ish, but of course, that's a matter of opinion as well. ;)
