@Acerdene Might I suggest you look at Guild Wars 2... No monthly fees there. Although I guarantee that this has way more content and a much better story, so I understand why there is a fee on this. I have no problem with monthly fees if I'm getting something like this game for it!

We put a microphone in Daniel Erickson's face and get him to talk about raids and writing.
@Venom_8625 "It's such a shame that good games like this are not free to download & free to play..." If they were free to DL and play, how would they make money? Only thing I can think of is in-game advertisements. Which I'm 100% against, I'd rather not be distracted during a raid because there's a giant "EA" or "NOS" banner plastered across my interface. It's an MMO, and like every other it's the same. Pay up, or shut up! $15 isn't much even if you work a part time job making minimum wage.
Well this game looks awesome well rounded. He missed the point that mmo's need alot content especially at level cap. I've played all the mmo's and they're always lacking something. Right now I'm playing DC Universe which lacked in the content dept at level cap.
@Neogenic Thank you, captain obvious. I had already stated that. It doesn't take much to understand that when I said Bioware took this route for lower end PC's was to make profit and sales to people who can have an affordable system to play it on.
@sammoth Yes, there are a lot of games that are visually better, but making an MMO that can only be played on high end pc's will not be that profitable, will it? Be it as it may, it still looks better then most other MMO's.
@smithboy1177 so you wanna play a game called "starwars" which is basically a story about the jedi and their allainces fighting the sith and their allainces over control of the galaxy and you wanna avoid pvp?.You would be better of trying Lord of the rings online they amazingly do avoid the concept of pvp to a point it's somewhat pointless to engage and in pvp and instead they raid till their hearts content.
Hope we can avoid all PvP crap. Looking forward to the writting, not interacting with idiots.
Wow so many poeple are hating the way BioWare i making this game. I personally love the idea that this mmo is driven by story becuase now i wont get bored just grinding. And someone posted earlier that people dont care about story they just wanna get to lvl 80 fast grind and get items. People probably did that becuase the game they played (WoW) barely had a story and didnt try enough for people to get really into it. Iam just happy BioWare is changing that so that i can finally really enjoy a very good game.
@Neogenic There are alsoa few that do alot better in the graphics department. Bioware took this route to make it for lower end PC's. I can only hope that it has a high rez texture pack with it.
The people that keep stating that this game has "bad graphics" need to get their eyes examined. There are a lot of MMO's (as well as other types of games for that matter) out there that do a lot worse in the graphics department.
@ Ok. I get your point. "well then there's no point in listening to all the VO when you just go kill x and retrieve y" Yes I understand that. What I worry is if the VO is not intriguing enough, and you have to skip it (Yes you can skip it). But I've listened to many podcasts and read a lot about the testers impressions of questing. I think to be able to be a douche bag to everyone, based on decisions you can get different rewards and affection points with companions as well as your own L/D side. And when you reach top level, you'll be able to see how you evolved based on decisions thru the thousands of quests you've completed. Devs said gear, abilities, reputation, companions can be altered by decisions (Tho haven't been shown yet). 1 dude said that 1 of his companions was crying on his ship 24/7 due to his actions. This is what keeps me hooked to TOR
MMO's have always been, and always will be, rat races. I have learned to accept this fact. Now I can focus on not fooling myself and instead on having fun. The part about being able to enjoy raids as soon as the player hits lvl 50 concerns me though (it's in the lengthy written interview, not the video). Will dungeon runs still be available at lower levels? Maybe I'm just stuck on semantics, but I thought that "raid" was just a general term for a dungeon run.
This game looks like sh!t. Bad lighting, bad animation, and emphasis on dialogue? You have to be kidding me. Lucas Arts, scrap this crap and make Battlefront 3, Rogue Squadron 4, and stop wasting our time with this awkward snooze fest.
i won't be satisfied with this game until there are some playable races that don't look like different colored humans (Twi'Leks are one yes, but only one, give me some damn variety) This is Star Wars, not Star Trek, Aliens are as common, if not more so, then humans.
@eslates In no form did I say I wasn't going to play it. The point was that it just like any other MMO with 2 main things. I think some people missed my point like you. 1. It's made by Bioware "great Developer but, has never done an MMO could go either way" Making good RPG's does not mean they make good MMO's. Esp Long Term. 2. Star Wars Licence is a big thing. Lore is key can be good or bad provided they follow it or learn to work around it. I am puling for the game but, only time will tell.
Having been in closed beta and being under NDA all i can say is this IS going to rollover most mmo's out there. Combat is fluidy, interface was top notch(not wow ripoff either),And as to Story all i can say is MAN BIOWARE owns at storytelling and should seriously consider stepin into the movie screenplay arena which is sorely needin quality scripts. To all the peeps being sceptical bout this game trust me having played every single mmo (pay to play that is) and not being a fanboy this game will surely take a nice chunk of any other mmo population its that good!
sorry to say it. But this game has fail written all over it. reserving judgment until I see some reviews, just dont think this is going to be what everyone wants it to be.
It's such a shame that good games like this are not free to download & free to play...
@sammoth Well, I get your point. So, you're saying you don't feel tempted to play it because of that? If so, how do you want them to handle it then?
Man i cant wate for this game! And i love it that he sed its probebly comin out this year right?
I'm rather looking forward to being an MMO newb. And what a way to do it huh? With lightning or a blaster!
@eslates Actually I have played both ME1 and 2 and waiting on 3. So please go away. I have played every almost every Bioware game made going back to the Baulder Gate series. Point was about its still long dialog just to kill x and retrieve y like all MMO's. Story might be good but, overall the core is the same with some story. I actually have been playing a very story heavy mmo for years called LOTRO. Even with the game after time it still goes back to kill x retrieve y. Yes I did miss the point where he said you can skip it. Hence why I haven?t responded back to any other insults such as yours. I wouldn't want to step over your petty little insults that require a small amount of thought to come up with.
I would like someone to help me freeze myself until this game comes out. I can't wait any longer!
One of the greatest reasons I want to play this game is story, not to mention dialogue and choice. I know I sometimes just want to go right into the action, but man, not all the time. I cannot stand going on for hours and hours without much story. That is why I am still trying to get into WOW (don't get me wrong, WOW is successful on many things and it is reliable as far as I can tell). I like the idea and notion to make up/mix my own story as I go along, but sometimes I just want to know why I am doing what :P
@bob_geldof221 It's nasality. It's what happens when a person speaks partially through their nose which resonates their voice in an unusual way. English has very few actual nasal sounds, "ng" for example, thus nasality unfortunately tends to be more common than in languages that do have multiple nasal sounds, such as the "Romance" languages for example. The good news is that, with a bit of voice coaching and/or singing lessons, it can easily be fixed. That said, it didn't bother me that much. I really liked his enthusiasm and straightforwardness in the interview - bravo. :)
Forcing people to listen to a story without skipping is just stupid. I am sure it's good but, sitting though it on multiple toons ugh. Options Bioware people want Options forcing someone to sit through dialog just to kill x and retrieve y anyways. Don't care how dynamic and good of a story it is u need to allow people to skip it.
