My main concern is... How can it really be star wars without space combat / starships? This was a major failing with Sony's Star Wars Galaxies and I am concerned that the lack of space combat and other space activities (minings, trading, exploration) will make this game feel much less like Star Wars.

BioWare Austin's creative director explains the massively multiplayer role-playing game's newly announced character classes.
Wouldnt life be great if actual gameplay looked and felt like the shown cutscene. /dreams
I agree Anatommesteren on the armor, that's kinda how you stand out a bit different. Also wonder on the lightsabers as well.
My question is; what about gear? Will they have any choice of armor, weapons, gadgets etc.? Because I can't really see a difference between one lightsaber and another. Should I? The thing is, if they choose to skip the gear-side of an MMO you would also skip one of the few ways to reward players and to let us show of progression. As materialistic as it may sound, gear differences is to me one of the ways to define a MMO. So again, I really do hope that they implement the choice and not to mention the "feeling" of having gear progression.
Wow, I am impressed, from all the screen shots and video of this. I am definitely looking forward to this Star Wars. I Should have plenty of time to get a new PC built up for the newer games coming next yea
He didn't say there would only be jedi/sith classes. That is just how the interviewer started. The characters from the preview vid make the gunner characters standout so there is likely to be more.
Sempter basic, if you look at World of warcraft. Every class and character [even both factions, e.g in Outland & Northrend] take the same story quests, same endings in dungeons etc. This is going to be a lot more deep story where you have consequences. If you have 2 Trooper classes, you would have the same story, but when you have 3 decisions to choose from - with morality points and paths - it will become a different story depending what you do.
wait wait wait.. so class story is like single player? categorizing them seems pretty risky
@september_basic you are being a troll, and you are just here to piss people off. That's how I view your posts... I've read everything you've said in other forums as well, but this one is by far the most blatant disrespectful post aimed at Bioware I have seen from you yet. Everything you stated before was complete rubbish as it's all based on your own misconceptions of what the game "MAY" be.. but calling Bioware cowards? I mean, come on... You're being ridiculous now.. cowards for not entering in 5 different story lines with 20 different endings for EACH class, bringing us to a total of what.. 40 story-lines and 160 multiple endings... do you REALLY think they have the time and/or resources to do exactly what YOU want them to do?! Personally I think what they are doing, REGARDLESS of whether there is "only" one story per class, is very, very impressive. If they pull it off, this could be an incredibly fantastic game that will take hours of my time away. But you know, go on ahead and continue to spew your verbal diarrhea about how Bioware are "cowards" and how this game will suck... I will be glad you won't be one of the thousands playing on my server come launch day.
Note: no matter what character class you take, you'll have the same story as someone else of that character class. No matter what. Listen: he is describing the character classes by the fact that each one has only a single story. There could be many but Bioware are being cowards.
This soudns great... and to the people who are saying this is going to be a Linear MMO it isnt, they just havent released a lot of information yet.
wow looks like a lot of fun. but im afraid that if i start playing its gonna eat up my life
from what ive seen in the movie demos and keeping a close eye on the games and also having experience in the past bioware games im not worried as to how this game will be in terms of how good or great it will be. And i had my class all chosen, i was solid on jedi knight but now that i realize jedi councilor is more like obi-wan im going that direction since obi-wan is my favorite character in star wars ever.
a mmorpg hm might mess up if it does this is gonna be a real crash for star wars in games
I agree with MMOaddict2009 i would love to see a game with no healing class or tanking class, or at the least a step in the right direction. Away from the classic structure. i want action like in the movies, i never saw a single jedi healing other people during a fight!
I just wish *sniffle* kotor III would not be forgotten to the depths as an abandoned sequel destined never to come out *sniffle*. Oh and the whole Consular "class" is ANNOYING! I liked the old KOTOR 2 setup: consular then an advanced class.
If they thought WOW took long to install.... this is gonna make a whole new standard
This is sure to be the MMO of the year, I absolutely can't wait for it to come out. My only hope is, even though they've hinted at healing and tanking, that this might be the game to break out of the Trinity system and give us a flowing, moving, all-out combat experience in an MMO.
The graphics look amazing!!! I wonder if they will be like that in the final version?
God...when are they gonna give a final date? Of course I want them to polish it to the fullest extent. I'm guessing it will be much longer...maybe a year.
Yeah people, this is an MMO...there's a monthly fee (duh). There's a few other videos that show gameplay of the bounty hunter and smuggler...definitely MMO material. Totally looking forward to this...SWG was a disappointment and this looks like it'll take up the mantle. I'm sure this game will steal me away from WoW, lol.
What the hell are you talking about dogpigfish? Bioware is hands down the best developer of RPG's and they haven't released a single game that "sucks" ever. Since your avatar is a GoW logo, I imagine you prefer mind numbing brainless shooters, and that's fine, but don't come here and trash one of the few developers still producing quality games.
The video that plays while they're talking is absolutely breath-taking. Screw the game, make a movie that looks like that. Anyone know if that's a trailer I can download?
i wonder if u can do those class quests with other people. like if Im doing a class quest, will my party miss out on stuff.
i agree with Shift, if u think its free your very mistaken. how can they release a game with big and epic and have it be free. mhmm can't wait for this game
PS people hoping this isnt gonna be a pay per month are cleary nuts! OF COURSE it is going to be a pay per month. And OF COURSE its worth it...How much do you pay to go see a movie? 25 dollars after soda and popcorn? for 2 hours of something you may not enjoy? You pay 15 dollars and some peopel log 100 + hours in teh month on games like WoW...If you think thats BS tehn you dont realize you get more bang for your buck out a a pay for play MMO than out of almost anything in life...As long is its one of those addicting MMO's like WoW is..even if you dont liek WoW at all its like crack for some.
@jsaply They absolutely can make BOunty Hunter as powerful/useful as a jedi...The Fetts were very formindable Jengo kills multiple jedi on geonosis if i remember from ep 2...If u played KOTOR 2 you know Atton was a jedi Killer and very good at what he did...Dont confuse the Super Jedi like mace yoda, luke vader and palpatine with your run of the mill jedi who is definately formidable but not invincible. This game will be very balanced and i definately do not expect to see only Jedi, especially since teh storydriven part will make people reroll as differetn classes all the time and require different skill sets for instances.
@Coldkilla9 Not all MMOs are pay per month. Guild Wars is only the first fee to buy the game, than it is free from then on
I'm actually suprised that they decided to go with another jedi/sith class instead of coming up with another profession in this game.
hopefully you dont have to pay every month or whatever that would be bulls**t i mean theres a lot of people arent willing to pay every month for a game and if they need profit or whatever make it damn good then people will buy it :)
I am definitely going to try this game. The only question I have is, since there is jedi classes and since Jedi's are really powerful, how are the other classes going to compare? They cant simply make a bounty hunter or other non-jedi class as strong as a jedi, nor can they make a jedi weak....so how can the game be balanced when grouping?
ehh, not too sure about the classes....everyone will make a jedi...does that even sound fun? people are going to be forced to play something they don't really have interest in...
If history repeats itself, this game will be the first linear MMORPG. Bioware is good at making great intro videos and then hyping up crap. Sometimes it takes players several months before they admit the game sucks, but it will happen. They were so excited about the concept that when they finished boring themselves they realized that this game had nothing new to bring, but mediocre gameplay and a linear storyline.
yeh...the less complex the game, the more kids there will be. WoW thrives on the concept of not making any decisions really hard, and thus has a huge player population. And WTF, where is the Jedi Sentinel
