That game does not have more DLC than Street Fighter X Tekken. There are 55 characters in SFXT if I'm not mistaken. That's 55 swap costumes. There are also 55 alternate costumes. That's 110. Then there are like 20 gem packs. That's 130. Then there are the custom combos, etc. You are looking at over 130 items as opposed to Dance Dance Revolution. Please name another game or admit that I'm right.
I agree.
SFxTK amount of locked content is obscene.
Also, you can download song by song in DDR, but if you want to play One of the new characters, you had to buy the whole pack in SFxTK.
And I think DDR's content was new, not locked content. - Nov 16, 2012 3:43 pm GMTdoctorwily posted...
Name one game that has more on disc dlc than Street Fighter X Tekken.
There isn't one.
Heck, even in Little Big Planet the costumes aren't on the disc.
Sorry bud. Other companies may do it, but Capcom is the WORST offender.
and their games continue to sell your opinions and these little boycotts sorry bud but no one cares - Nov 16, 2012 7:54 pm GMT"and their games continue to sell your opinions and these little boycotts sorry bud but no one cares"
Please learn grammar before posting on this site. My head hurt just reading your message. - Nov 16, 2012 7:56 pm GMTWhoops. Forgot the 12 DLC characters! That brings the total to $150 plus dollars.

Actually they were sold in packs of 5. 17 five song packs and two singles. Some packs had as many as 4 repeat tracks from a previous game, some had as many ss 4 new tracks.
Compare to SFxTK, you have a Capcom side swap and alt pack, Tekken side swap and alt pack thats 4, one character pack thats 5, combo creator thats 6, and how many gem packs are paid DLC? Unless its 13 it doesnt even have the same amount as DDRUM4 snd its 19 packs. Seriously, I cant believe TC is including the free gems, colors, combos, and what not.

The SFxT boards in a nutshell: http://i.imgur.com/9ECXm.gif - Nov 17, 2012 7:15 am GMTIt appears you need to do some research.
There are 5 or 6 " introductory" gem packs that are free. The other 20 you have to buy.
The colors are free.
The " custom combo creator " is paid. The rest are custom combo slots which are free.
So yes, you still pay for exclusive gems and a custom combo creator.
And this game has way more on disc dlc than Dance Dance does.
And it's obscene. - Nov 17, 2012 8:18 am GMTFrom: doctorwily | #207

Look at the amount of "cosmetic" DLC SFxTK has. The only thing that really matters are the 12 characters. On disc DLC shouldn't exist in general, but the characters are the most often complained about because they are the only thing that actually have an effect on the game.
In contrast, 87 songs. Thats 17 more than a DDR game. All of it is on the disc. The songs are the DDR equivalent of fighting game characters.
As far as gems go, all of the good ones are free. You could buy all of the gems, but you would be buying lesser gems. This is probably a huge part of why they didn't sell very well, Capcom kept all of the best gems free. I do think its funny that you say there are "5 or 6" free packs but you have a solid number in "20" for how many are paid. I tried to check your work, but the PS store is down for MX right now. Simply put, your lack of a solid number for the free ones leads me to believe you made up a number for paid DLC gem packs. Especially since google only turns up 5 paid gem packs.

You ready? Cuz this ones a doozy...
I went to the PSN store this morning to check out just how many PAID gem packs there were and I must admit that I was wrong. There are not 20.
THERE ARE 45!
Lmao.
Yes, there are 45 paid gem packs at 99 cents to $2.99 a pop!
There are listed as the following:
SF Boost Gem Pack ( there are 18 of these ) 99 cents each
TK Boost Gem Pack ( there are 18 of these as well ). 99 cents each
SF/TK Shared Assist Gem Pack ( there are 5 of these ). $1.99 to $2.99 each
Lightning Legs Pack ( don't know price, got it with my pre- order, probably $1.99 )
King of Iron Fist Pack ( same as above, pre-order)
Iron Curtain Pack ( pre-order)
Cross Arts Pack ( pre- order)
So 45 gem packs.
Crazy.
And it doesn't matter if the " only good" gems are given to you free. That's not the point. The point is that this game has an obscene amount of dlc thats already on the friggin' disc.
If I bought all of these gems, that's the price of this whole game and then some. - Nov 18, 2012 7:45 am GMTHow about just closing the topic to prevent any more pointless arguing?

Can you see where I'm coming from now noobsaibot?
More like I can't see where Capcom is coming from. There is taking advantage of the fact that people have supported on disc DLC in the past, and then there is... this. What purpose does this serve when all of the best gems are free? Why are there that many paid gem packs? This is horrible marketing.

DLC is a controversial subject at times. Some do it well, some don't. But Capcom with this game has taken it to a riciculous new low. I have never in my life seen so much content being charged that should have come on the disc all along.
- Nov 19, 2012 12:27 pm GMTRead what I posted about MK9 in the comments section. Every character got a FREE alt and the only $5 you paid was for PRE ORDER EXLUSIVES.
How can someone so up in arms about bad practices buy into this nonsensery... - Nov 19, 2012 12:32 pm GMTNobody's really buying the gems anyway, so it's not a big deal. They're extra, like the costumes and the combo editor.
The only DLC that people can make a legit argument for is the characters.

I actually agree with you, and for the record the only reason I started playing the numbers game is because TC said that no game had more than SFxTK (and due to me not knowing how many gem packs there were, I was wrong). From: doctorwily | #256I know. My point was more that I can't believe someone up at Capcom HQ looked at this and thought it was a good idea. Who woke up, went to work, saw this presentation and said "Over 40 paid gem packs, and all of the best ones are free? These will sell like crazy!", seriously that dude needs to get fired.
Obviously they tried to take advantage of DLC without going into "pay to win" territory, and for that I applaud them. You can argue the characters both ways on play to win, there is no spinning paid gems otherwise and Capcom knew this so the best ones were free. The fact that they expected people to buy 45 packs of LESSER gems blows my mind though. SFxTK is a good game, I could have made myself buy one or two lesser gem packs to show support if that was all they did, but this? No one in their right mind will buy these.
