Super Mario World is one of the best games I have ever played and will always remain a momento for me. To date, I have yet to see a platformer that both outclasses and surpasses this masterpiece. Everything from the level design and platforming dynamics are absoultely superb, and they all work very well with the control scheme.
To keep things short: no matter who you are, if you like platformers, buy this now. Moreover, there is still nothing like this on the market, despite our technological advances.
Hoenstly, replaying this game makes it apparent that we've taken a step backwards as oppossed to forwards in terms of platformers. Today, there's no more challenge or awe inspiring designs, just simple levels and bland designs that appeal only to a child audience (like the makings of New Super Mario Bros Wii). Now if you've played that, you will grow to despise that you ever did after playing the masterpiece that is Super Mario World. Just play it and see for yourself. Trust me or any person that's played it: you'll love it.
